For Sale: 1948 Ford F1 in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

When it comes to 'old school cool', it doesn't get much better than a tricked-out pickup. Comfortably accommodating two passengers and boasting the coveted ability to haul anything from a building block to a big block, these fabled workhorses combine the best characteristics of a flashy coupe with the straight up utility of a commercial truck. And, in ultimate homage to golden age Detroit design, they seem to ALWAYS look great! Wrapping plush leather, five forward gears and 32 valves of buttery Mod Motor in show worthy aesthetics, this impressive Ford is one of the nicest F1s on the market. And if you're looking for a reliable head turner that mixes timeless style with great performance, it's a solid stake for your next street rod!

COVERED IN FLAME

Enjoyed by the same dedicated family for close to 65 years, this super cool pickup is the beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that's lovingly highlighted by glossy Chrysler Flame Red two-stage. Under that high quality pigment, an all-steel fuselage joins solid panels with a handsome wood bed. And that massaged profile centers beautiful fit and finish under bright reflections that bounce off Kansas-flat surfaces.

Naturally, this Ford's thoughtful rebuild includes a roster of tasteful details. At the front of the truck, a broad bumper leads broad fenders, which center bold "F O R D" lettering over a blacked out grille. That grille, spiced with polished bars, props stainless-trimmed headlights and clean parking lamps under a pointed hood that's sculpted around stainless-trimmed louvers. That "FORD" branded bonnet reflects a chip-free greenhouse, which founds contrasted wipers and refined mirrors in front of a flush Center High Mount Stop Lamp. At the sides of that glass, trick PT Cruiser door handles join a power antenna to shade dressed running boards and tasteful F1 emblems. The truck's stainless-trimmed bed hides a small billet fuel filler. And at the back of that bed, a second mirrored bumper reflects classy Ford taillights and polished tailgate hardware.

32-VALVE FORD POWER

Toss the hood and you'll find 32 valves of choice dual overhead cam Ford V8 that, when originally installed in the SVT Cobra that donated it, twisted a healthy 320 horsepower into 317 lb./ft. of neck-snapping torque! Stout, solid and highly adaptable, Dearborn's proven Mod Motors have spent the last two decades powering everything from Mustangs and street rods to Aviators and Panoz roadsters. At the top of the smooth mill, polished BBK Cold Air Induction shoves oxygen through a factory Ford throttle body and a factory Ford intake that's lined with quality Aeromotive fuel rails. At the sides of that intake, glossy cam covers seat polished Ford Racing coil covers under a billet oil cap and an original Romeo engine tag. Ceramic coated headers swirl spent gases into a high performance true-dual exhaust system. A lightweight Flex-A-Lite radiator rides between a polished tank and a trick Mr. Gasket ThermoCap. And aesthetically, the clean engine bay is an impressive piece of street rod art that's dotted with cool details like billet tanks, braided lines and reliable Ron Francis wiring.

BUILT RESTO-MOD PROUD

Judging by appearance, this classic spent most of its blue-collar life living clean and working hard. So, when the time came for rebirth, the truck was a prime candidate for thorough modernization. Nowhere is that theme more evident than under the skin. The spry 4.6 liter sends power to a predictable Tremec T45 5-speed, which spins a trusty Ford 9-inch that's finished with 3.73 gears. That smooth drivetrain rides a full Fat Man Fabrications chassis, which strings adjustable QA-1 coil-over-shocks down a 4-link rear-clip. Tracking is provided by a Mustang II-style front-clip, which features polished controls arms, power rack-and-pinion steering and two more adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power assisted discs, which complement Ford calipers with Wilwood calipers and vented rotors with drilled and slotted rotors. A rowdy soundtrack comes courtesy of dual-chamber Flowmaster mufflers. Plenty of fuel is supplied by an electric Mallory pump, which drains a custom, under-bed tank. And at the corners of the chassis, polished American Racing Torq Thrust Ds twist 205/60R15 BF Goodrich Comp T/As in front of 235/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.

READY TO ROLL

Between the doors, modern bucket seats, wired from the factory for both heat and full power adjustment, treat two passengers to big bolsters and tight leather hides. Opposite those thrones, an artfully painted dash hangs billet-trimmed AutoMeter telemetry beside simple controls for modern heat. Fade-free carpets weaves its way around a short shifter, a small console and billet foot pedals to mirror a matte headliner. Body-matched doors twist billet handles in front of fluid power windows. And the driver spins a handsome Grant steering wheel around a tilting column.

Both alluring and practical, this awesome Ford is a tastefully refined take on the enduring concept of the American pickup truck. Combining great craftsmanship with proven mechanicals, it presents the rare opportunity to land a show worthy classic that easily doubles as a sorted weekend cruiser. Don't miss your chance to claim this awesome custom!
