Here is an excellent example of a beautifully restored 1951 Harley
Davidson FL Hydra Glide with a 1949 Side Car. In 1951 only six big
twin models were offered. Production of the low compression models
E and F were discontinued. Also in 1951 it was given new style gas
tank emblems, chrome plated piston compression rings and rocker
arms were machined with pushrod sockets. In mid 1951 the M-74B
carburetor was introduced along with a larger diameter pinion
