1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition For Sale - Optional L82
350ci Engine LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1978
Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition The C3 generation was the
longest running production run of any Corvette and throughout the
years it went through many changes which inspired many different
models. For 1978, Chevrolet decided to build a limited-edition Pace
Car edition that was a replica of the pace car used at the
Indianapolis 500. They built 6,502 cars to commemorate the first
Corvette pace car of the storied Brickyard event. The cars featured
special paint and unique decals, replicating the Pace Car's color
scheme, as well as the 220-hp L82 V-8 and full leather interior as
standard equipment. The special-edition car came with front and
rear spoilers, mirror-tint roof panels and contoured sport seats.
Also new for the 1978 model year was the fixed-glass fastback. The
redesigned rear window was a fresh addition to a 10-year-old body
style, providing extra cargo capacity and aiding in aerodynamics.
The interior features a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, air
conditioning, power windows and locks, cruise control, rear-window
defrost and glass T-tops. The dashboard was restyled to match the
previous year's new aircraft-style center console and gauge
cluster. This beautiful 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car edition
has been very well maintained from new remaining highly original
throughout. Under the hood is the optional numbers matching 220hp
L82 engine and numbers matching three speed automatic transmission.
The car is also optioned with power steering, power brakes, AM/FM
radio, power windows, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, cruise
control and of course factory air Conditioning. To date, this
collector grade Corvette has traveled a mere 23,473 miles from new
and remains in incredible original condition. Accompanying this car
is the rare jacket that came with it when new, straight out of
1978, it also remains in excellent condition. The 1978 Corvette L82
Pace Car is one of the few bright spots of the performance car
world in the late 1970's, with their great styling, rarity and
desirability among collectors and enthusiasts make this a great
opportunity not to be missed. Additional Details: -
