Vehicle Description
1958 MG MGA 1500 Roadster For Sale - Beautifully Restored Example,
North American Spec LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1958
MG MGA 1500 Roadster The MGA can trace its roots back as early as
1951, when Syd Enever, MG's chief designer, fitted an aerodynamic
body to George Phillips' TD for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The idea
was shelved until 1955, when three pre production, aluminum-bodied
prototypes ran again at Le Mans, with two finishing fifth and sixth
in their classes. Introduced in 1955, the MGA brought MG fully into
the post-war era. As a replacement for the MG TF, at its heart was
a 1,489 cc inline four-cylinder engine, topped with twin SU
carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Although
its initial output of 68 bhp (which was shortly raised to 72 bhp)
seems small by today's standards, the MGA tipped the scales at just
over 900 kg. It proved to be a hit with customers both in England
and abroad, with 13,000 examples sold in the first year of
production and a total of 101,081 examples built by July of 1962.
This example offered here for sale was built in the left-hand drive
specification destined for the North American market. Finished in
its factory shade of Black lacquer paint and outfitted with a
beautiful Tan interior this beautiful Roadster looks absolutely
stunning. Recently it has undergone a beautiful restoration and is
ready to be used and enjoyed by its next caretaker. MGAs are fun to
drive, relatively easy to maintain so it's easy to understand why
these cars have a fervent following of enthusiasts who enjoy
driving their cars regularly. Considering this example's attractive
colors, this MGA will surely not disappoint. Additional Details: -
