Vehicle Description
1954 Ford F100 Pickup
The F100 series of pickups was introduced for the 2nd generation in
1953 and would join a line of history pickups for many years to
come. These trucks introduced the 3 number nomenclature in their
name which is something that continues even to present day.
Throughout their life the F-series has a special place in
automobile history as they are one of the highest sold vehicles to
date. The second generation was marketed as the "Triple Economy"
series and had a wide range of options from light duty pickups to
more heavy duty commerical trucks. The F100 was their 1/2 ton
offering and this clean 1954 has a lot of neat features going for
it. What started as an already very cool looking pickup has been
customized and restomodded in a very unique show truck. The body is
all very solid and rust free. It is painted in a beautiful Silver
metallic paint which really starts to pop when you get it out in
the sunlight. It is currently dubbed "The Shop Truck" but all of
the shop logos and graphics are removable. The chrome grill is
nicely mounted in place but the bumpers have been deleted with the
front holes filled and a rear roll pan created. The cab has a
slight chop and the glass is all in good condition. In back it has
a smoothed tailgate and the side rails have been enclosed for a
nice sleek look. Other body mods include the relocation of the gas
tank to underneath the refinished wood bed with stainless strips.
The dark Gray metallic custom wheels contrast with the Silver body
nicely. With the air ride suspension the stance is totally
adjustable and the wheels with low profile tires tuck perfectly
into the fenders.
Open up the forward lifting hood and you will now find a rebuilt
4.6 interceptor motor in place. This fuel injected motor is a nice
conversation starter and has no problem getting this truck moving
combined with the automatic with overdrive transmission. The truck
has a great sound through the custom H-pipe dual exhaust. The truck
has a later model front end, 4 link suspension and power disc
brakes were added under all four corners. It also has power
steering making it a very comfortable pickup to cruise around
in.
The interior has been redone in a Black, Red and Silver
combination. The upholstery all looks fresh and the bench seat
features Black with Red stitching and Red welting. The door panels
are upholstered to match and fitted with all chrome hardware. An
aftermarket removable console sits on the seat for extra storage
and cupholders but a second custom console that is painted to match
is also mounted to the floor. The Vintage AC/Heat system sits below
the dash and all works properly. The dash itself is painted in
Silver and kept very clean. It now has Dakota Digital gauges in the
original mounting position and other than a few knobs it has been
kept free of clutter. The tilt column has a nice shine and is
topped off with a custom matching leather wrapped (Black and Red)
steering wheel.
This is a great looking truck and with the modern components makes
it a very comfortable classic to drive. It shows well and provides
a great ride on the way there!
