1979 Datsun 280ZX - One Family Owned Since New - 2.7L Inline 6 - 5
Speed Manual Transmission - 31k Miles - Blue Over Black Interior -
Very Clean Example The '70s have been dubbed the Malaise Era for
the American car market by the automotive press based on the
general sense of depression automotive enthusiasts felt about the
offerings coming out of Detroit at the time. However, overseas the
competition was blooming especially in the sports coupe market. In
1979 Datsun introduced a longer, lower, and wider version of their
classic sports coupe that was now leaning towards being more
luxurious with a variety of packages and an impressive list of
options. Garage Kept Motors is pleased to offer this clean,
low-mileage example. This 1979 Datsun 280Z is a one family owned
car which has 31,000 miles on the odometer. The car was lovingly
cared for over the years, with maintenance records and original
documentation kept. Blue metallic paint presents well thanks to
being well maintained, and shines with a nice luster. The black
bumper rub strips have some sunlight fade and discoloration but are
not distorted in any way. The body was rust proofed at the
dealership when new. The cabin of this sporty two-seater is well
preserved and clean. The seat upholstery, door panels, and
headliner are original, showing little, if any, wear. The carpet is
very clean with only a slight seam pull on the driver's side near
the heel pad. The two-spoke simulated leather-wrapped steering
wheel frames the gauges on the performance oriented dash. Options
include a rear window defroster, power sport mirrors, center
dash-mounted clock, factory AM/FM Hitachi stereo, and multi-speed
wipers. Under the hood is clean and presents as well maintained.
The most recent maintenance includes; oil change, new radiator, new
hoses, water pump, and thermostat. The rear differential was also
resealed. It's impressive to see the under-hood trouble light is
still present and functioning, and many of the factory decals and
markings are still present. The 2.7 liter inline six was factory
rated at 135hp @ 52000rpm. Power is transferred through a 5-speed
manual transmission back to the 3.70:1 rear axle. The suspension
benefits from the power-assisted rack and pinion steering and
four-wheel power disc brakes. The undercoating has helped preserve
the floors and uni-body structure, leaving the underside tidy
looking. The factory 14 aluminum wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich
Traction T/A black wall tires. Demand for classic Datsun sports
cars continues to grow, and as such, it is difficult to find
examples like this one family owned 280zx. This is a very nicely
preserved 40+-year-old vehicle. It looks amazing and is a lot of
fun to drive. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific
questions. Thanks for looking.
