Vehicle Description
1985 GMC Jimmy K15
The third-generation C/K series was marketed by Chevrolet and GMC
divisions. Marketed primarily as pickup trucks, the C/K trucks were
also offered as chassis cab vehicles. Marketed in 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton,
and 1-ton (nominal) payload series, C/K pickup trucks were offered
in two cab designs, three bed configurations, and three wheelbase
lengths. In response to the introduction of the Ford F-150, the
Chevrolet "Big 10" high-GVWR 1/2-ton was introduced for 1976.
In our midst and for consignment, some GMC Jimmy greatness. This
one a 4x4 K series SUV, often confused with the Jimmy pickup and
you'd be correct sir, as these two vehicles were virtually
identical save for the location of the fuel tank and the bed
covering 's ability to be removed on the pickup. Also the addition
of a rear bench is on the SUV. This truck has been fully restored,
and is virtually new all around. A labor of love, that was just
completed in October of this year, so there are plenty of miles
harkening to be driven and enjoyed in this large SUV
consignment.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by
the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws
to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public
highways in your area.*
Exterior
Sometimes these car companies leave me scratching my head and this
one is no exception. It was called the "round line" and although it
is a bit more rounded than previous models, it still, (to me), is
mostly square and rectangle design! But that's just me, I'm not
GMC. The frame off restoration included remediating any rust that
previously existed, then bathed in white. And not unlike the driven
snow shows up perfectly with well minded gaps, and laser straight
panels. Chrome trimmings are all in excellent condition, and the
front dual dual rectangular headlights setup along with the
aluminum grille and big center located GMC badge are all shining
like crazy diamonds. Straight steel makes up the side and rear
panels, and the fiberglass cap is also white and sports some tinted
sliding side windows. The SUV has all new glass as well. On the
back is a tow hitch kit, afold flown gate and shiny rear bumper,
and above another tinted rear window for the cap. 15-inch polished
wheels are wrapped in 31x10.5x15LT off road tires with raised
outlined white lettering. "Lets git a little mud on those
tires."
Interior
A swing of the big front doors reveals some black molded
plastic/vinyl materials, a bit of tuck and roll black vinyl,
carpeting in black for the lowers and aluminum trimmings. Power
toggles for windows and locks are on here as well. I note new
weather stripping all around. High back buckets in full vinyl
jackets are nice and sleek and pristine. A nice center console
flanked by the chairs in the center. A full bench leather back seat
is in and looking good to accommodate more passengers. Upfront the
curved dash sports a large aluminum dash front peppered with round
gauges, temp sliders and AC/heat vents. There is an aftermarket
digital vintage looking AM/FM radio in, and also within the black
carpeted floor is the 4x4 shifter. Transmission shifting is from a
lever on the column right behind the original steering wheel, to
the drivers right.
Drivetrain
Im ready to have dinner served on top of this clean pristine fully
restored 305ci V8 mill. It has a 4-barrel carburetor, and a TH350
3-speed automatic transmission. On the back is a 10 bolt rear. Our
consignor has documentation of complete expenses for the
rebuild.
Undercarriage
Let's just say looking really nice underneath. Clean, rust free
stamped and forged steel are ever-present. New power disc brakes
and rotors are upfront, and on back new power drum brakes. A Turbo
muffler helps the free flow out the back door of the exhaust.
Drive-Ability
I climbed in and was off to the test track after a quick fire up.
Here it performed swimmingly with smooth endless acceleration, easy
handling, and good solid panic stopping. The AC blew cold, the heat
was hot, and all functions were OK save for the speedometer which
is non functional thanks to a broken speedo cable. Also I noticed
the rear window motor is bad. Look Ma... No cats installed!
A full frame off restoration recently completed, so now it is time
for another to enjoy these fruits of a labor of love and our
consignor can move on to the next project. Runs like a Swiss watch.
"Climb every mountain...." ( get it? the Swiss Watch and mountain
reference..but I digress!) Get in here!!
