Vehicle Description
2009 Triumph Rocket III
The Triumph Rocket III is a three-cylinder motorcycle made by
Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. At 2,294cc (140.0 cu in) it had the
largest-displacement engine of any production motorcycle until the
release of the Triumph Rocket 3. The name "Rocket III" is derived
from the 1968 BSA 750cc pushrod triple, the Rocket 3, which was a
badge-engineered version of the original "Triumph Trident."
For consignment, the large and in charge cc'd, (2,294 to be exact),
Triumph Rocket III. This bike sports custom exhaust and a K&N
air filter system, fuel injection and is liquid cooled. It handles
surprisingly well for its size, and the power? Well, get on and
turn the throttle, and you'll see for yourself. This is a 2 owner
bike, and it's not a Harley!
Bathed in light and dark blue and adorned by a stunning amount of
chrome, (right down to the radiator core covering), it has dual
front disc braking, upside down front forks for the front, and twin
shocks for the rear. Framing the front of the bike, just below the
windshield are a trio of chromed bezeled and encased lights. 2
additional bullet styled casings, also in chrome, house the turn
signals just below the trio. A clear windscreen is framed on its
bottom with more chrome, and on the top of the gas tank is a
central teardrop speedo with a digital mileage readout. Handlebars
are standard, and these have chromed speaker coverings on either
side for the stereo effect during your ride. A nice black leather 2
passenger seat is just behind the tank and has a small back rest
for the passenger in back. Fiberglass two tone blue saddlebags hand
off of either side, and are trimmed on the bottom with...wait for
it...more chrome! On the rear fender is another teardrop red tail
light, and dual round back-up lights on stalks just below. The
large custom exhaust pipes peek out from under the saddle bags and
frame the rear tire.
Drivetrain
A liquid cooled 2300cc 3 cylinder emblazoned with chrome everywhere
mill is perfectly balanced under the gas tank and seat. This is fed
fuel by EFI and has a 5 speed manual transmission on back. 3 pipes
on the riders right run vertically from the engines then take a
sharp turn rearward to form the dual exhaust which has the split
underneath just south of the engine.
Ride-Ability
A quick starter, and on the test track handles swimmingly. For a
large heavy bike, it is surprisingly nimble, and easy to turn and
maneuver. A comfy seat, all controls at your fingertips or feet,
and this chromed beast gets an A++.
This beautiful Triumph was the largest displacement in its day, and
it's a bit like putting a 496ci engine in a sports car. Yes it goes
like the wind, but it handles beautifully, and is a definite eye
catcher. Not your everyday ubiquitous Harley. Check it out riders,
and you'll be on your way..if the chain don't break, although it
won't because it don't have one, its shaft drive!
