Vehicle Description
2003 Chevrolet S10 Blazer ZR2
Regular Production Option ZR2 is a special off-road/suspension
package offered by General Motors on their mid-size pickup trucks
and SUVs. It debuted in 1994 on the Chevrolet S-10 and the GMC
Sonoma pickup trucks. In 1996 it was expanded to the two-door
Chevrolet S-10 Blazer and later offered on the Chevrolet Tracker.
The ZR2 package was gradually phased out with the S-Series pickup
and SUV lines. However, it has made a comeback as an option on the
2017 Chevrolet Colorado.
For consignment, a 2003 S-10 Blazer from the bowtie company.
Sporting a repaint of the factory yellow, a 4" lift, a front brush
bar, Westin side step bars, and a new trailer hitch. This one has
been owned by our consignor for the last 4 years, is Pennsylvania
state inspected until 7/23, and sports its correct 4.3L V6. Cue
Julie Andrews to swing to the tune of "Climb Every Mountain!".
Note: This vehicle is sold with a Pennsylvania reconstructed
branding on the title***
Exterior
This small 4x4 sports an exterior with a respray of the factory
Yellow bathing straight steel panels with fairly well minded gaps.
The gaps tend to skew on the driver's front corner, most likely due
to the chance encounter with a deer causing cosmetic damage to the
hood, fender and grille and headlight. Aside from this minor flaw,
all seen is mostly unremarkable. Upfront a yellow and shiny chrome
grille sports tinted aerodynamic headlights and side signals in
orange just below leads back to a reverse scooped cowl induction
style hood. A black brush guard is hovering in front and ties to
the black steel bumper and integral fog lights. Some charcoal black
fender flares have been added to the high wheel wells and set of
the knobby like new 32x11.50R15LT Cooper Discoverer AT3 rubber
nicely. Westin round tubular step bars make entrance and egress a
breeze along with adding some rugged good looks. Black tinted
window surrounds as well as a black roof rack add a nice contrast
to this off-road ready 4x4 which has a big presence in the photos.
In back a nice lift gate with spare tire frames the lightly smoked
tail lights and more curved tinted glass for the rear hatch and
another charcoal black steel bumper framing the bottom.
Interior
Behind that tinted glass are charcoal black broadcloth and vinyl
door panels which hold within the power lock toggles, window
toggles and the actuator. A molded in speaker rounds out the panel
nicely. The original GM dash continues with more use of the
charcoal black molded plastic accenting for the dash front
surrounds, mixed with true black molded ovoid square and rectangle
design for the remainder of the dash and instrument cluster.
Broadcloth charcoal black colored buckets with black vinyl bolsters
are in front of this dash, and a large center black plastic and
carpeted console/storage/cupholder is between the seats. This
console also holds the black leather booted floor shifter. Black
carpeting is flooding the floors including the clean cargo area
behind the rear bench broadcloth covered seat. Above a large black
fuzzy broadcloth headliner covers the interior ceiling and
highlights the power moonroof and small front consolette
nicely.
Drivetrain
A factory 4.3 Liter V6 sits in an original unrestored engine bay.
This has EFI, and a 4-speed automatic 4L60E transmission. 3.73 is
the axle designation for both the front and rear axles. The
insulating liner under the hood appears as new and is an often
overlooked addition.
Undercarriage
A mix of surface rust and black steel coats most of this
undercarriage, although it remains structurally sound. Rockers and
floor pans are rust free and a new cat back exhaust snakes its way
rearward. Power disc brakes are noted both front and rear and the
suspension is torsion bar upfront and leaf spring on back. Our
consignor notes the addition of a 4" lift kit to assist with any
off road adventures or rock crawling in Utah.
Drive-Ability
This truck and its 4.3 liters fires right up and driving is a
pleasure. All comfy on the ergonomic front for the interior, smooth
acceleration and nice cornering. The braking was bias free and more
than adequate and all functions were working as they should be.
A very nice semi-off road version of the smaller Blazer with a
economical 4.3 liter V6 engine. A nicely colored interior to go
with the retina searing exterior. Let's get to climbin'!
