Vehicle Description
1964 Buick Lesabre Sedan
LeSabre, (the French work for Sword), and all other full-sized
Buicks were marketed as expensive cars at an affordable price. A
bit unusual as Buick was commonly known for being upscale, but GM
actually pulled it off despite only the Chrysler being more
expensive than all the other cars it went up against in its
class.
For consignment, this beautiful Teal Mist colored fine automobile
has been in the same family since its initial purchase by the
grandfather in 1964. It's been garage kept all its life, and
presents in very nice condition and could be called a survivor.
This 4 door sedan and is a turn key car that you and your friends
can pile into and cruise over to your hipster friends house and
have a fondue. Groovy
Exterior
Teal Mist covers the totally finless metal slabs that are adorned
with an array of good condition brite work. From the 3 front
quarter panel quintessential "vents" to the horizontal tasteful V
styled grille with flanking dual headlights, and a body length trim
spear that houses the vents all is in very nice shiny condition.
Stainless window trimmings, mirrors and wheel well surrounds add
some more bling to the Teal Mist paint. On the rear quarters a
small comeback is made in the form of a light fin on top that
frames the trunk lid on either side. Horizontal tail lighting and
more britework and another shiny bumper below finish off the body.
Thin white wall rubber has turbine styled wheel coverings and this
car is now bleeding 60's cool, right down to the LeSabre badge just
above the back portion of the trim spear.
Interior
Original silver vinyl mixes with some aluminum trim in the center
of the doors, and sports vertical stitched ribs with buttons on
top, and some more vertical stitched graphics on the bottoms. The
edges of the doors and armrests are showing some soiling but its
light. The 2 bench seats within the passenger compartment are
covered with gray and silver shiny damask broadcloth inserts and
have shiny silver smooth bolsters and piping on their edges. To
keep the tasteful going the dash is also silver and has a geometric
shape to house the black faced gauges which are round and have a
smaller round clock in their center. Various knobs and pulls line
up below and then the dash turns to black in the center where the
original AM radio is housed. Just above under the dash top are the
climate sliders, and then the dash turns back to silver for the
passenger glovebox and courtesy light. The dash top is padded black
vinyl with no cracks or errors. Silver carpeting, somewhat clean,
is on the floors and a light gray broadcloth headliner is original
and tight as a drum above. Due to the color combo this car tickles
my tasteful senses while giving an overall feel of calmness to my
person.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in an unrestored but nicely preserved engine bay
with just a bit of dust and dirt, houses the factory 300ci V8 with
a single 2 barrel carburetor on top. On the back is an ST300
2-speed automatic transmission and a 3.07 rear axle
designation.
Undercarriage
A few parts have some heavier surface rust, but certainly of no
concern as to structural integrity. An X frame holds all together,
and for the suspension I see front independent coil springs and on
the back a 4 link with coil springs, Power drum braking is on all 4
corners, and a surface rusted stock exhaust is on the car.
Drive-Ability
No problems starting and running and on the test track it was a fun
drive with nice smooth acceleration, and bias free braking.
Steering was a breeze and save for the clock, heater blower, and
horn all was working just great.
We have in our presence a same family ownership car, well
maintained example, always garaged and now up for the taking
automobile that is decidedly Buick styling, and upscale hip for
today's individual that wants to cruise and be just cool.
