Vehicle Description
1986 Ford F250 4x4
The ninth generation of the Ford F-Series is a lineup of trucks
that were produced by Ford from the 1992 to 1998 model years. The
final generation of the F-Series to include a complete range of
trucks from a half-ton F-150 pickup truck to a medium-duty F-800
commercial truck, this is the third generation of the F-Series body
and chassis introduced for 1980. To improve the aerodynamics of the
exterior, the front fascia underwent a substantial revision to its
design. The flareside bed design made its return, following a
substantial change in its design.
For consignment, an F250 4x4 right out of 1986. This truck has an
excellent drive train, some snazzy knobby tires and a louvered
tailgate. It is very sound structurally, and has a comfy
interior.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by
the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws
to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public
highways in your area.*
Exterior
In iconic Ford fashion we lead off with the square and rectangle
designed grille with its square headlights and directly below a
horizontal signal light. Just below a large bumper wraps slightly
around the diorite quarters. Straight steel is bathed in black and
is showing a few dents and some smaller scratches especially in the
sides. A red pinstripe accents those sides and we see large chromed
rear view mirrors hanging off of either side of the doors. On top
is a visor with some extra exterior lighting giving it that big rig
feel. A shiny rocker covering runs under the doors and fronton the
bed which is extra long and has shiny trim rails on the top edges.
A rear louvered tailgate opens up to a well preserved black plastic
bed liner which is like new. The roof shows some clear coat wear
off and overall dulling.
Interior
A swing of the doors and its nearly "All Aboard!" and time to climb
up and in. Door panels make use of red molded plastic, some velour
broadcloth for mid section panels and red carpeted lowers. Inside
are nicely preserved light gray overstuffed headrest buckets, and a
central jump seat which also folds down in the back to create an
armrest. These chairs float in a sea of more red carpeting. The
dash is pure Ford with a red dash top which undulates up and down
with sharp horizontal and vertical angles. Within these angles are
some burl applique panels which house the gauges and a lineup of
warning lights. The dash center follows suit with more burl square
and rectangle black panels, and some more red molded plastic for
the remainder. A digital clock, AM/FM stereo and climate sliders
are installed into the center of the dash. One lone aftermarket
white faced gauge that monitors oil pressure hangs from below the
dash. Headliner presents in tight fuzzy broadcloth and a large
sliding rear window is installed.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in a patina engine bay is the go big or go home
526ci V8 which is pumping out 516 dyno proven ponies. This healthy
mill is fed by FiTech EFI, and on the back is a 4-speed manual
transmission with a new clutch and pressure plate. Both axles are
Dana locker axles. Headers and a large exhaust system are seen and
heard! All emissions equipment has been faithfully removed
TYVM!
Undercarriage
Slight signs of aging but all secure in the fact things are
structurally sound overall. Leaf sprung suspension is on all 4
corners, an in front power disc brakes and for the rear power
drums. Shiny black paint covers the steel stamped panels and big
wide framing.
Drive-Ability
I climbed in and took this big rig-esqe truck for a spin and was
supposed at its brute force power. Those 526 cubes were all
producing plenty of power, the transmission was smooth and
effortless to shift, and all functions were working very nicely.
The ride height gives you a panoramic view of all things, and also
gives the driver and passengers the feeling of dont "eff" with
me!
A nice solid, powerful, great running, comfortable to drive, 4x4
ripe for the picking out of our hallowed halls of Classic Auto
