Vehicle Description
1995 Ford Crown Victoria LX
In the first quarter of 1987, development began on a redesign
codenamed "EN53". The Ford Crown Victoria was unveiled on November
28, 1990 and began production in January 1991 as a 1992 model,
launching on March 21, 1991. Fleet sales of the vehicle were
postponed for 14 months to maximize availability for buyers at
launch. In line with the redesign of the 1991 Chevrolet Caprice,
(its chief competitor), the 1992 Crown Victoria featured a major
exterior redesign, while retaining the previous-generation chassis.
Ford reduced the coefficient of drag of the exterior from 0.42 to
0.34, (nearly matching the 0.32 of the Ford Taurus), to enhance
aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, giving the first generation Crown
Victoria its sleek, wedge-shaped design that came to be known as
the "aero" look. Ford benefitted from a unique loophole in CAFE
standards when the 1992 Crown Victoria and its Grand Marquis twin
were launched. To avoid paying gas-guzzler taxes, Ford modified its
supplier network so that the two vehicles could be classified as
imports from Canada, effectively removing the full-size sedans from
the Ford domestic CAFE fleet and placing them in its imported
fleet.
For consignment, an original, unmolested, low mile 1995 Ford Crown
Victoria LX. Purchased from the original owner by our consignor
after multiple purchase attempts over the years when she brought
the car into the dealership for servicing, the original owner
finally relented after her becoming too old to drive. Little has
been changed since the curved shaped redesign from 1992 and in very
good condition with a title verified 16,591 miles, runs nicely, was
always dealer serviced, always kept in a climate controlled garage,
and provides its passengers with a classy comfortable ride.
Exterior
The factory application of Medium Willow Green Metallic paint coats
the exterior steel panels that are straight and mind their gaps
throughout. In front a nice vertical polished horizontally striped
grille is flanked by aerodynamic built-in headlights, parking
lights and turn signals. Badging is correct and clean on the grille
as it flows rearward following a long hood back to a large 4 door
passenger compartment, electronic digital locks are seen on the
driver's door up front. The rear "C" pillar slopes gracefully
downward and has an opera window which allows the rear seat
passengers to watch the world go by. A spacious trunk and rounded
integrated tail lights, and a body matching wrap around bumper
complete the exterior. Standard snowflake inspired Ford badged
wheels are all around.
Interior
Up front an analog dash in black with white letter sits within a
dark gray plastic frame with a wood burl strip underneath and is
surrounded by stitched gray leather padding. Saddle tan takes over
for the lower dash and conveniences such as the climate control, an
AM/FM/Cassette, electric clock, cruise control, power seat
adjustments, power windows, power mirrors, and power door locks are
noted. A large split bench made up of two spacious buckets with
built in armrests stretch across the front, and a large comfortable
spacious luxurious bench across the back. These are all covered in
plentiful and firm foam and wrapped in like new Saddle leather.
Saddle tan carpet floods the floor and is in good unstained
condition, and the headliner is stretched tight, and is very
clean.
Drivetrain
A 4.6 Liter SOHC fuel injected V8 sits within a clean like new
engine bay and shows well with little to no corrosion and only a
minor covering of dust from age. It is connected to a 4-speed
automatic 4R70W transmission which sends power rearward to a Ford
8.8" axle weighing in with 2.73 gears.
Undercarriage
Presenting structurally sound and clean, this undercarriage shows
some surface rust only on uncoated steel surfaces. Floor pans,
rockers, toe kicks and frame are all totally rust free and covered
in an application of black undercoating and the under door framing
is near perfect. Providing the luxurious ride is an independent
coil spring suspension in the front and a 4 link with coil springs
on the rear. Power disc brakes are noted on all 4 corners as is
power steering. Single exhaust quiets down the 4.6 Liter to barely
a whisper and is rust free original equipment.
Drive-Ability
A quick starter all did very nicely on our test drive, had my crack
decoder and dear friend not been along on this drive I may have had
to strip to my skivvies and enjoy the lush leather against my
posterior, (one of the benefits of working at Classic Auto Mall).
All smooth ride, shifting, and acceleration. Ease of operation is a
definite plus for this big skate and all functions were working
swimmingly at the time of our drive with the exception of the left
rear window regulator.
Nicely presenting, clean, tasteful colored, Crown Victoria. If you
are looking for the classic mid '90's ride your grandfather or
grandmother loved, then you need to come into the halls of Classic
Auto Mall and have a look at this cream puff. Well maintained and
lovingly cared for, it led a good life, and with such low miles it
is ready to perform a lifetime of service for you and yours.
