Vehicle Description
Look through our inventory and you'll see a lot of late-30s Fords,
but oddly, not many Chevrolets. The big two have been duking it out
since the mid-20s, and if your tastes run to the pre-war era, you
owe it to yourself to take a good look at this gorgeous 1938
Chevrolet Master Deluxe Sedan. Nicely built with a great-running
350 V8 and some choice luxury and convenience items, this is the
perfect hotrod for the person who loves to drive.
The elegant Emerald Green paint is a bit more luxurious than
anything that rolled off the assembly line in 1938, but on the
2-door sedan's curvaceous body and fat fenders it looks amazing,
bringing out the details and highlighting Chevy's iconic pre-war
design. The body is 100% steel that hasn't been chopped or modified
in any way, with only the bumpers removed for a more streamlined
appearance. And why would you mess with a good thing? The '38 Chevy
2-door is already one of the most handsome sedans of the era, with
perfect proportions that straddle the line between sedan and coupe,
a bright wind-swept grille, and a timeless profile one could stare
at for days. Bodywork is really great, with a lot of extra care
used on the final finish, although after a few years and some
carefully driven miles on the clock, the build understandably shows
just a few minor signs of use. Nothing big, mind you, but a few
details that prove that this car was built to drive. Note that much
of the original trim wasn't shaved or deleted, but polished up and
reinstalled, adding interest without making the car look too plain,
including the bright trim that runs down the center of the hood,
the shiny door handles, and the custom rear 'bumper' out back. Cool
factory headlights nestled between the fenders and grille look
awesome, while the blue-dot taillights out back are the perfect
complement.
You couldn't ask for a better place to spend some time than the
gorgeous tan leather interior. Borrowed from a late model, the
adjustable front buckets have been reshaped and modified to erase
their previous identity and make them look right at home in the
vintage Chevy, and the rear bench seat, headliner, and door panels
follow the plush leather designs for a perfect match. There's also
modern A/C, a leather-wrapped billet steering wheel atop a tilt
steering column, and a powerful Sony AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo integrated
in the custom headliner that powers speakers scattered throughout
the passenger compartment. The original dash uses Classic
Instruments gauges set into a custom machine-turned panel that
really pops out from the green dash, and things like the A/C vents
and controls are nicely integrated underneath, along with a
stenciling of what appears to be the car's namesake: "Ms. Georgia".
Plush carpets line the floors and are protected with matching
rubber floormats, seatbelts were added fore and aft, and out back
the massive trunk has been finished with matching carpets and
custom side panels, so if you're going cross-country, this is
definitely the car to take.
Cruising is easy thanks to the GM 350 cubic inch V8 crate engine
under the hood that moves this slick sedan with authority that the
original inline-six could never imagine. With an Edelbrock 4-barrel
carburetor and matching Edelbrock polished aluminum intake, along
with an HEI ignition system, front-runner kit driving the
accessories, and shorty headers feeding into a Flo-Pro dual exhaust
system, it's a reliable powerplant that's also a lot of fun on the
open road. There's some chrome and other goodies for dress-up, but
it's obvious that this one is all about function over form,
although it all looks like it's been serviced regularly since the
comprehensive build was finished. A 700R4 4-speed automatic
transmission feeds a heavy-duty 10-bolt rear end, and the front
suspension was upgraded with custom A-arms, big springs and shocks,
big sway bars are fore and aft, while the power rack-and-pinion
steering system and power front disc brakes ensure a great ride
every time out. Color-matched green wheels are adorned with shiny
hubcaps and beauty rings, and they're wrapped with staggered
255/60/15 front and 255/5017 rear BFGoodrich radials that really
fill the fat fenders.
Fully sorted and ready to enjoy, this awesome Chevy is a great
show-and-go cruiser that'll make you smile every time you see it.
