Vehicle Description
THE LA BAMBA1941 FORD DELUXE BUSINESS COUPE. This coupe was
resurrected in 1972 from a "Yonke yard the Mexican Boarder (soy La
Bamba).. The junker was spotted just before it was to be dismantled
and crushed. The interior had been gutted, but thankfully the
engine, drive train, windows, dash and exterior trim were still
intact. The dismantler, Jorg'e, said it was towed in from a private
garage in Chula Vista. The previous owner was a sailor and the car
had been stored by his father for many years. One day the sailor's
dad got tired of storing the old thing, and off it went to the junk
yard. In the junk yard the brakes were restored, new tires thrown
on it, a new battery was strapped in, ground connections and cables
were done, and oh, yes, it was gased up. . Believe it or not, the
La Bamba kicked over and ran? Minor adjustments were made to the
Carb, a five gallon "bucket" for a seat was strapped in and we
drove it up to San Clemente, CA.. During the 70's and 80's the La
Bamba was a project car. The original seat was repaired and my
teenage girls drove it to high school. We spent endless hours
hand-sanding, changing push rods and driving to Laguna Beach for
Sunday Brunch.. . Note: One must always park on a hill facing down!
The battery goes down fast (no radio - girls - when parked), the
starter fails and the engine vapor locks. Carry a set of tools,
spare coil, starter, condenser, voltage regulator and fuel pump. As
one can see, the La Bamba still needs lots of work but it's a good
car that will bring you lots of happiness.. Oh! The joys of a "Ford
V8 Flat Head... Read the full description on our Website at:
