Vehicle Description
What we've got here is one absolutely beautiful car if we've ever
seen one. In the showroom now is this exceptional 1967 Mercury
Cougar, and it's just waiting for its next owner. This example is
covered in a stunning "Glacier Blue" paint scheme, with metallic
flakes that glimmer in the sun. In addition, this one is also
special for another reason. The Cougar in question is equipped with
a four-speed manual transmission - a rare option to have on a 1967
Cougar. In awe of the Ford Mustang and its success upon launch in
1964, the Lincoln-Mercury division of the Ford Motor Company wanted
to have its own version of the Mustang. Intended for a market
positioned above the Ford Mustang and below the Ford Thunderbird,
the Mercury Cougar was intended as a "fancy" pony car. This is due
to it having more features and comforts than the Mustang but being
tuned for better road performance than the Thunderbird. Released on
September 30th of 1966, the Cougar far outsold what Mercury was
expecting. By the end of 1967, the Cougar accounted for over 40% of
the Lincoln-Mercury division's sales! Built in the very first year
of the Cougar nameplate's existence, this '67 Cougar is equipped
with the standard "C-Code" 289 C.I. V8 breathing through a 4-barrel
carburetor. As stated previously, this Mercury puts power to the
pavement through a 4-speed manual transmission, which is an
uncommon thing to see in Cougars of this vintage. The exterior
"Glacier Blue" paint shines beautifully in the sun covering
bodylines that are laser-straight from start to finish. The
interior looks just as good as the exterior, with its "Light Aqua"
blue vinyl trim and deluxe bucket seats that are perfect for
cruising. Coming with options that make this Cougar a dream to
drive, this example is fitted with a vintage-updated (probably
1970s or 1980s) AM/FM/8-track stereo system, a deluxe steering
wheel, power brakes, functional hideaway headlights, a remote
driver's mirror, interior lighting, and a nice-sounding dual
exhaust system. The car rides on some classy factory-spec Cougar
wheels sitting on top of two pairs of B.F. Goodrich RWL tires for a
classic, muscular look. Now restored and ready to turn heads, this
Cougar is a great choice for anyone who's looking for some raw
muscle with a little bit of class.
