Dk. Metallic Blue w/Bright Blue interior, 440/375hp Super Commando V8, 4-spd. manual transmission.
By 1968 the “Muscle Wars” were at a fever pitch! The Big Three, as well as AMC all had performance cars in their arsenal. Down at the Plymouth division of Chrysler, things were really heating up! If you were so inclined to put a performance Plymouth in your garage, there were many to choose from. Barracuda, Fury, Roadrunner, and GTX were all there for the taking! And as far as powertrains, you had anything from the trusty slant-6 all the way up to the mighty Hemi! But the engine that many though was the unsung hero of the bunch, was the Super Commando 440! The 375-horse 440 would give reliability and not require the maintenance of the Hemi. Add to that a 4-spd. manual transmission and a heavy-duty Dana rear end and you were defiantly in the running for king of the strip . . . or street!
The GTX presented here is one of the finest examples you will ever see! Not only is it equipped with its “born-with engine”, but it also happens to be backed by the highly sought-after 4-spd. manual transmission! The car has undergone a very extensive, nut and bolt rotisserie restoration and is backed up by tons of documentation, including its fender tag, Broadcast Sheet and complete inspection report by Galen Govier! It’s also won numerous awards including the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals Concours Gold Certificate!
