For Sale: 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme in Anaheim, California

Vehicle Description

Matador Red w/Parchment interior, 350/260hp, 3-spd. automatic transmission.

When it comes to American cars from the ’60’s-’70’s, us gearheads tend to focus on the muscle car versions from the Big Three.  But, within the mid-size and intermediate genre, there were “tamer” versions offered.  Oldsmobile was placed right below Cadilac in the pecking order of GM’s divisions.  And although, the mighty 4-4-2 was capable of some very impressive performance, the most popular model in the Olds lineup was the Cutlass.  There were many different configurations available in the Cutlass line, but the top trim level was the Cutlass Supreme.  Built between ’66-’97, this was basically a trim package.  However, the Cutlass hardtop did have its own roofline.  But if you wanted the “ultimate” Cutlass, the Supreme Convertible was the way to go!

This incredible, two-owner time capsule is completely original, with the exception of tires, belts and hoses.  Even the original dual-stripe whitewall spare tire is still in the trunk!  Originally purchased new by a woman in OK. who had it in her possession until ’87 when the second owner acquired it.  The car has been babied its whole life.  And you can plainly see by observing the car’s beautiful original paint and interior (with just the right amount of patina), that this weas definitely the case!  Equipment includes factory air conditioning, bucket seats with console, power steering, power front disc brakes, power soft top w/top boot, Rally wheels wrapped in whitewall radial tires, am/fm radio and a period correct Craig cassette player mounted appropriately under the dash!

When Corvette Mike purchased the car, he really to a liking to it and decided to drive it for a bit.  So, a service was performed including a-c and he took it home and spent some time tooling around on the occasional weekend.  And getting behind the wheel, we can understand why he did!  The car is a pleasure to drive.  It glides down the road with plenty of power and shifts, steers and stops like it should.  Not every vintage piece of Detroit iron needs to have 400hp and a 4-spd!  Some are just meant to be excellent top-down cruisers.  Just like this one!
