Vehicle Description
The 1972 Ford Mustang was promoted as "A beautiful experience," and
in the case of this premium Grande model, they're exactly right.
You're looking at an upper-class pony that has the right mix of
good care and investments. That means the numbers-matching V8, a
well-appointed interior, and a sleekly vintage exterior that
delivers an impressive total package - especially for the value
price.
This comes from the era when Ford wanted to give the Mustang some
upper-class moves, and the Grande was it. More expensive than the
standard coupe, it received standout pieces like the vinyl roof
with the Grande badging and a nice pinstripe package. These were
the kind of things that screamed premium in '72, and they continue
to be attractive pieces today. Part of the overall appeal here is
how this one has been given good investments while still looking
vintage. The teal paint is a later upgrade. So you get a nice gloss
in the sunshine, but it still keeps the kind of tone you'd expect
from a 1970s color palette. This polished paint not only shows off
the good body lines, but it also goes well with the shine of the
bumpers and trim. And we especially like the upgraded alloys. They
have the classic Halibrand-style design, but they are a larger
17-inch size that allows you to fit modern tires. So it sets the
tone right for a distinct Mustang that's also made to be a true
driver.
The gold pinstripe on the outside nicely coordinates with the
ginger interior. And just like the exterior, it's properly vintage
with the right upgrades added. It starts with the two-tone ginger
seats finished in comfortable cloth where you sit and durable vinyl
in the high traffic areas. It's the kind of design that could only
come from the 1970s, and the condition looks highly original. All
the other pieces from the carpets, to the dash pad, to the door
panels all follow this earthy tone. So for those of you who want
something other than muscle car black, this is a terrific way to
stand out from the crowd. And because the Grande represented the
premium end of the Mustang family, it's great to see the premium
details like the trim in the seatbacks and wood applique in the
dash. And because this is made to still be a cruiser, there are
good updates like an AM/FM digital tuner with cassette and a sports
steering wheel. You may decide to do a few upholstery repairs or
restore the factory air conditioning, but overall, this is
comfortable and attractive from day one.
Premium also means power. The numbers-matching 351 cubic-inch V8 is
attractive with its bold blue block and "Powered by Ford" valve
covers. While it looks highly original, the way this one runs and
drives shows the kind of strength that comes from being properly
maintained. Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission, power
steering, power brakes, and front discs keep this classy Mustang an
easy cruiser.
