Vehicle Description
This 1964 Chevrolet Corvette keeps the iconic C2 silhouette, but it
has the modern fuel-injected LS1 engine. Plus, take the time to
look over the sleek paint, upgraded interior, overdrive
transmission, and custom dark style that's all part of a distinct
restomod build.
The meanest Corvettes are in red or black, and so when you create a
powerful restomod with growling side pipes you do it in red AND
black. The glossy red paint is not only aggressive but it also
helps show how crisp the body is everywhere from the crease in the
roof to the flush fit of those iconic hidden headlights. And the
black is a well-coordinated package that shows off the best in
performance and custom. So we like it on the classic pieces like
the two-piece bumpers, side pipes, and even the trim has a midnight
kind of style. Plus, the black bezels showcase the three-piece tail
light kit (always a cool way to show off a custom C2,) and the
black insert of the upgraded stinger hood is a great way to
acknowledge a powerful coupe. So it's a full package that loves to
announce it's an updated car that also respects its history. Even
the wheels follow this theme. After all, you could get American
Racing alloys for your Sting Ray back in the day, but these are a
modern design with a modern 18-inch size that ideally fits with the
car's dark side.
The black accents of the outside also go nicely with the full black
interior. It looks good with newer carpeting, classic door panels
and a nice headliner. It even gets the details right for a cruiser
with everything from an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo to the
working dome light. But what you'll like best is that this restomod
was made to be a true driver. That means a nice set of
well-bolstered modern bucket seats. The steering wheel is an
upgraded sports unit, and beyond that is a full digital gauge
package with a cool blue glow.
Under the hood is a 5.7-liter LS1 V8. It has been so expertly
installed, it almost looks like they put this modern fuel-injected
heart in on day one. In fact, the engine cover is a custom piece
that even mimics part of the classic Corvette valve covers. But the
overall impression of this car is one that was built for driving,
and the engine bay continues that feeling. You have updated pieces
like the ICT billet coil brackets and a DeWitts aluminum radiator
with electric fans. The motor fires up with the kind of readiness
you can only get from a modern FI machine. The Hooker shorty
headers add extra power as they feed the side pipes. And the
upgraded cam means even more muscle and thunder. The upgraded
four-speed automatic transmission delivers versatile gearing with
overdrive comfort. The Sting Ray is a great driver's car because it
has a fully independent suspension. And you'll also spot nice
driving features like Wilwood four-piston caliper front disc
brakes, power steering, and wide modern ZR-rated tires.
