Talk about an attention getter!  This 1971 Camaro really has the look and sound of a 1970’s muscle car.  With its split bumper styling, black racing stripes, cowl hood, and beefy rear end it appears to mean business.  But when you fire up the big block engine it removes all doubt.

This car was built in March of 1971 at the Norwood, OH plant.  This RS (rally sport / split bumper) car was originally Burnt Orange but has since been finished in silver with black racing stripes.  It also received a 4” cowl hood, front chin spoiler, three-piece rear spoiler, and Z28 badges that give it quite a presence.  Paint, bodywork, and chrome are nice driver quality throughout.  The underside is in excellent condition with subframe connectors and Lakewood traction bars; be sure to see the pictures!  And the 15” Cragar S/S wheels with Cooper tires are the perfect touch.

The original V8 engine has been replaced with a 1969 Chevelle JK-suffix 396 block that has been bored 0.030”, resulting in 402 cubic inches.  It was built by B&B Racing Engines of Appleton, WI and features Edelbrock 6045 aluminum oval port cylinder heads.  Other features include a large aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, multi-rib drive belts, Doug’s headers, and a full Pypes exhaust.  It sounds like you’d expect from a 500+ hp big block.  The transmission is a rebuilt TH400 automatic with a 3,000 rpm torque converter.  You also get power steering and power front disc brakes for easy driving.

The black interior has high back bucket seats that flank a center console containing a horseshoe shifter.  Note as a second-generation Camaro this one has integrated shoulder belts in front.  Aftermarket features include a full set of white-faced gauges that all read accurately.  There is also a JVC stereo and a Grant 3-spoke steering wheel.  The headlights, turn signals, courtesy lights, backup lights, and neutral safety switch all function properly.  Note this car is not equipped with a heater/defroster, windshield wipers, or a parking brake.

While there are many types of Camaros, this one really captures the spirit of a ground pounding 1970’s street machine.  It is also a solid car with the fantastic split bumper front end and a healthy big block.  Just be on your best behavior as you won’t talk your way out of many tickets in this one.
