For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in St. Louis, Missouri

Vehicle Description

This 1965 K Code Mustang Fastback is finished in stunning Silver Blue Metallic over a blue and white Deluxe Pony interior. Features on the car include the correct 289 V8 Hi Po engine, original 4-speed close ratio manual transmission(HEH-T), 3.50:1 9” housing, 14” chrome wheels wrapped in Michelin tires, folding rear seat, remote drivers mirror, 2-speed wipers/washers, Day/Night mirror, interior coat hooks, AM radio, GT equipment package(front disc brakes, larger sway bar, quick ratio steering, trumpeted exhaust, 5 dial dash, GT gas cap, rocker panel stripe, and fog lamps in the grill). The Deluxe interior has special seat upholstery, door panels with armrests, pistol grip door handles, wood grain dash, steering wheel, and the optional center console.

The engine was professionally rebuilt and has the correct Hi-Po casting number (C5AE-6015E) with the 6-bolt bell housing. The engine is now .03 over and retains the original harmonic balancer, original solid lifter cam, original aluminum 4 blade cooling fan, competition style Hi-Po exhaust manifolds, dual point/centrifugal style advanced distributor, and the correct Autolite 4100 cab that was professionally restored by Pony Carburetors. Compression is the correct 10.5:1 and if she’s warmed up and you’re feeling lucky, you can rip the engine up to the 6,500 RPM redline. The transmission, Z bar clutch arm and 9” rear end remain date coded to this Hi-Po Mustang. The car also uses the mandatory 10.4” K code clutch.

The suspension and brakes were totally sorted during the restoration. Both the K code and the GT came with the Special Handling package with upgraded springs, shocks, plus a larger 13/16-inch front sway bar. Also included is the quick ratio manual steering box.
This K code GT is an impressive and thrilling car to drive. These cars were just over 2,600 lbs which is feather light compared to most modern vehicles. Packaged with the upgraded brakes, high HP 289CI and a handling package, these were great sports cars in their day and are still a wonderful analogue drive to this day.
