What we've got here is a nice little racer if I've ever seen one.
Built to compete in the SCCA's Autocross competition series, this
1968 Ford Mustang is ready to go at a moment's notice. This one is
especially striking, with a black and yellow paint scheme that
evokes images of classic Trans Am racers in the '60s. Additionally,
this one comes with a whole bunch of performance goodies that make
it even better on the track. With front disc brakes, a
posi-traction rear axle, a lowered suspension setup (for a better
center of gravity), updated shocks and rear traction bars, this
Mustang can't wait to get some lap times in. Upon restoration to
SCCA-spec, the standard 200 C.I. straight-six cylinder was swapped
for what this racer currently has, a fire-breathing 351 C.I.
"Windsor" V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor. Power from that 351
Windsor gets to the asphalt through a smooth-shifting C-4 3-speed
automatic transmission, delivering quick and linear power. The
exterior yellow paint with black accent graphics looks great,
highlighting this Mustang's aggressive stance and assertive feel.
Even the front end has has some highlights of its own, the black
paint calling attention to hood pins and vintage headlight covers
that only add to the "throwback racecar" look of this Ford. The
interior's black vinyl trim is comfortable, perfect for not only
lap times but also for simple cruising. Unlike some purpose-built
racecars, this Mustang has plenty of options that make it more
friendly to the driver. For instance, with this Mustang you get a
deluxe woodgrain steering wheel, under-dash performance gauges, a
Jensen AM/FM/Cassette stereo system, updated Jensen rear speakers,
an aftermarket tachometer, a heater + defroster, and a
mean-sounding dual exhaust system. The car rides on some
sweet-looking gray painted wheels on top of fat 215/60R15 rear
"Nexten" tires and skinnier 195/60R15 "Hankook" tires. Whether
you're looking for a unique, race-inspired cruiser or a genuinely
capable vintage racer on a budget to put down lap times, we think
we've got what you're looking for right here.
