For Sale: 1969 AMC AMX in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Only 52 Hurst Super Stocks were built. This is a faithful tribute with correct paint scheme, hood scoop and Cragar wheels. This is a real 390 AMX to start with. Restored to show condition.

EXTERIOR: Stand up and salute! This red-white-blue muscle car is American as Apple pie and baseball. It is slick! The body is clean and straight, it fits precisely. No rust or damage. It has the Super Stock hood scoop and paint scheme. The paint is polished like glass. There are 2 cracks in the paint on the hood. The jambs are painted slick- matches the exterior with red in front and white in back. The mirror and door handles look new. The bumpers are show chromed. Stainless trim is polished. The grill is excellent with red-white-blue detail. In back the taillight lense is mint, no cracks. Optional side exhaust with aluminum covers, very desirable. The Cragar wheels sparkle like new, wrapped in BFG tires.

INTERIOR: Overall very nice condition. Excellent black carpet front to back, new red embroidered mats. Excellent door panels. Clean dash area, it is not beat up, cut or broken. It has a factory tachometer and original 8-track player. The wood grain is in great shape, on the console too. Custom leather bucket seats and a deluxe wheel on a factory tilt column. Original headliner has some warping.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a built 401 motor with a hot cam, roller rockers, an air gap aluminum intake, Edelbrock carb with electric choke, a set of headers and a Flame Thrower coil. It's dressed up with a nice set of Offenhauser finned aluminum valve covers. Features include a Borgeson power steering and power brakes. The wiper motor was restored. Upgraded polished aluminum radiator and chrome shroud. The engine bay is all clean metal painted gloss red. New hood insulation. I noticed it has strong oil pressure on the gauge.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Rock solid original metal. I don't see any splices, not even in the quarter panels. It's all painted bright blue. Weatherstrip and mat were replaced.

UNDERSIDE: The front end looks like it's been rebuilt- steering and suspension. New shocks in back. It has disc brakes in front. 3.55 posi rear. It appears to have clean rust free metal. The center floors are painted glossy, it has undercoat in the right places.

AMXs are fun cars to start with, this one has an extra scoop of fun with a cherry on top. It's exciting: the colors, sound, and performance!

I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
