Vehicle Description
Pontiac fans know that 1988 was the last and (arguably) the best
for the Fiero... and the GT model with the V6 is the ultimate
prize. This even has all the best features like a five-speed, a
leather interior, and nearly impossibly low mileage. So if you're a
Fiero fan, you'll love how well-presented and well-preserved this
sports car is.
This coupe has an impressive odometer. We'd put far more mileage on
this one if there was just one weekend trip to Las Vegas once a
year. The real secret to this one's ultra-low mileage is that we're
told it was preserved by an executive in Pennsylvania for the first
part of its life. And it makes sense that this was kept as a
collector on day one. Pontiac had really started to get the Fiero's
chemistry right with the sleeker GT body style with the
ground-hugging factory body kit and flying buttress rear. The paint
shows all the right signs of being the factory application. It has
the kind of radiance that lives up to its Bright Red name. But the
real secret to the attraction is the well-coordinated dark side.
The blackout rear panel, engine cover, and trim line that encircles
the car give this a cool midnight streak. Even the special
cross-lace wheels are done in black. Plus, the sleek hidden
headlight front end, quad exhaust tips, and full-width rear spoiler
are all about the sport style that earns this on its GT
designation.
The interior preserves the stock sporty style. The dual bucket
seats have plenty of bolstering for a true sports car feeling, and
they are done in supple leather. The door panels, dash, carpeting,
and other fundamentals really remind you what a well-preserved and
low-mileage car is all about. It's loaded with power windows, power
locks, a tilt steering column, cruise control, and provisions for
air conditioning (it will need servicing to blow cold again.) The
whole car has a clean and complete stock look, right down to the
working courtesy lights. In fact, the only upgrade you may notice
is the AM/FM/CD stereo. It's hard to spot because they replaced it
with a later unit that was still from Pontiac, but purists will be
happy to know the stock unit comes with the sale.
The fuel-injected 2.8-liter V6 delivers entertaining performance in
the relatively lightweight Fiero, especially thanks to the control
that the five-speed manual transmission provides. It certainly
looks the part of a performance engine with a bright red intake
manifold and matching valve covers. And this preserved and
maintained style to keep it running strong. With features like the
fully-independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes, this is
one of the sharpest-handling American cars of its era. That's why
it makes for such a special classic today.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, a reproduction
window sticker, service manuals, and maintenance records. This car
has a terrific tale of being mothballed for years, and after that,
there has been the right level of care and investment. That's why
there has been recent servicing for everything from a new clutch
master cylinder to rebuilt headlight motors. The result is a
terrific level of preservation and an irresistible driver's car
attitude that will have you adding to the odometer. So if you want
a distinct classic at a terrific price, call today!
