Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette
convertible, finished in ermine white over a red interior. This
late C1 has been with its current caretaker since 2007. Under
present ownership it has been a sunny day driver and regular
participant in local parades and shows.
Under the hood is a crate LT1 350 cubic inch V8 that was installed
under previous ownership. The engine is paired with a four-speed
manual transmission that shifts smoothly and delivers ample power
to the rear wheels. The engine has been recently resealed with new
valve cover gaskets, front and rear main seals, and an oil pan
gasket. The fuel and ignition systems have seen a recent refresh as
well consisting of a carburetor rebuild, new fuel pump and lines,
and full tune up. It starts up easily and runs well. Handling feels
tight due to a full suspension overhaul with new springs, shocks,
and bushings, in addition to a steering gear rebuild. Brakes are
likewise new.
The fiberglass body is in excellent condition but the paint is
older (perhaps even original) and showing patina throughout. The
interior is tidy and features a set of five gauges beneath a
160-mph speedometer. Just above the gear shift are a Wonder Bar
radio, heater controls, and a clock. Manual windows, door locks,
and top are all operational, though the convertible top is showing
some wear.
With over $10,000 of recent service work, a venerable small-block
Chevy V8 power plant, and a four-speed, this early 'Vette is a
solid driver that's ready to hit the ground running and provide
plenty of smiles along the way.
