Vehicle Description
The beautiful design of the 1962 Corvette showcased a few new
firsts, and said goodbye to a few attributes that wouldn't return
to Corvettes until decades later, if at all! The powerful 327ci V8
was introduced this year and would stay around for the next seven
model years. The exterior chrome trim highlighting the side cove
area disappeared leaving only color-matched paint, and a single
louver as the new accent. This would be the final year for exposed
front headlights, a solid rear axle, an external rear trunk, and
the availability of a power top. Things were about to change for
the next generation of Corvette, which is why the 1962 model
remains one of the most coveted designs to have in collections
around the world!
This attractive 1962 Corvette Convertible has been professionally
restored in frame-off fashion to a high standard! Finished in
beautifully applied Tuxedo Black with a Red Vinyl interior and
matching Black convertible top, it leaves no detail overlooked!
Options include number's matching 327ci V8 engine producing 340
horsepower, updated Muncie close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission,
4.11:1 Posi-Traction, auxiliary hardtop, AM radio delete, Heater
delete, front license plate bracket, and Coker Classic 8.70-15
4-ply wide whitewall tires, full polished wheel covers, and red
interior lap belts. Included will be a reproduction window sticker
and original warranty card found inside the car. It shows this
Corvette sold new from Lew Williams Chevrolet in Corpus Christi,
Texas with its original 12-month/12k-mile warranty issued on June
13th, 1962.
Engine Cast Number: 3782870
Engine Date Stamp: F1220RE
Engine VIN Stamp: 2104847
It has traveled only limited, fair-weather miles since the
completion of an outstanding body-off-frame restoration in
approximately 2013 while titled out in California. It has always
remained in a climate-controlled environment when parked with the
former owner for the past 9 years in New Hampshire. The restoration
was conducted with drivability in mind, so updated stainless steel
fuel & brake lines are present, along with a newer Weiand aluminum
intake fitted with dual Edelbrock 1804S 500cfm carburetion for
enhanced performance. Included in the sale will be a Winters
aluminum intake: 3890490 (1966-67 L79) and Carter AFB 3721SB
carburetor D5 (April 1965) if someone prefers a more stock
presentation.
It continues to run brilliantly and should not be a disappointment
to anyone who is lucky enough to enjoy it firsthand! Outside of a
few minor paint imperfections that support it has been driven and
enjoyed, it remains in overall excellent condition. It represents 1
of only 4,412 examples built with the 327ci/340hp power plant in
1962! Finding a solid axle C1 with this sort of presentation is not
easy to do! Please feel welcome to call with additional questions
of schedule a viewing appointment!
