Vehicle Description
An awesome color combo, nearly-impossibly low mileage, and all the
right creature comforts are some of the headlines for this 1998
Dodge Viper GTS. And as you look around at the full package you can
see well-integrated additions that give this 450 hp supercar an
even more powerful and aggressive style.
The paint closely resembles the Viper Bright Yellow offered this
year, but this is actually an upgrade later in life. The silver
racing stripes pay tribute to the original color, and so when you
have a fresher repaint on a car that has less than 5,300 miles on
the odometer, the result is something quite sleek and impressive.
And we can absolutely understand why this one was upgraded to a
bolder hue because it goes with the total impression. The Kinesis
two-piece wheels, extended rear valance, and larger rear spoiler
give this a resemblance to some of the later Viper ACR racers. This
one even returned the side pipe style of the earlier cars for some
added growl. It's an overall style that has a modern aggression
while also fostering a growing appreciation for its growing classic
iconic status. So if you live in a state that offers vintage plates
at the quarter-century mark, this one is almost ready to be the
sleekest, meanest, and boldest car to likely ever be labeled an
"antique."
The interior has a cool looking black that shows this one wants to
get down to speedy business. But as you peek further inside, you
can see that the bold yellow returns to show off some terrific
enhancements. This accents upgrades like the Sparco racing seats
and racing harnesses. And the yellow glow to the carbon fiber trim
is a particularly nice touch. While this one feels a bit more
race-ready, we also love these 2nd gen Vipers, because they add
comforts without losing that raucous sports car feel. So you get
great features like power windows, power locks, keyless
entry/alarm, dual airbags, a tilt steering column, an AM/FM/CD
stereo, and cold-blowing air conditioning. So we won't accuse this
of being a coddler, but we appreciate how it's a nice place to
spend some time.
Tilt the large hood forward, and there's no mistaking the Viper's
gorgeous red cast aluminum intake manifold and valve covers. And
the ultra-low mileage means everything else also looks crisp and
clean on this numbers-matching motor. The 8.0-liter V10 is what
legends are made of when churning out a whopping 450 hp and 490
lb-ft of torque. There's even a Hennessey Performance intake to let
this mighty motor inhale deeper. You get complete control of this
via six-speed manual transmission, power steering, and a
race-inspired fully independent suspension. Plus, four-wheel disc
brakes and grippy ZR-rated tires are exactly what you want for
stopping power. While all of this keeps the Viper nicely planted on
everything from the back roads to the racetrack, you are pure
intimidation just standing still thanks to the roar of the side
pipes.
