In 2010, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the SLS AMG - a striking two-seat supercar designed by Mark Fetherston as a modern interpretation of the iconic 300SL Gullwing. With classic long hood/short deck proportions and the famous gullwing doors, the SLS undoubtedly looked the part, and it lived up to the hype thanks to a snorting, snarling 6.3-liter AMG-built V8 rated at 563 horsepower and 497 ft lbs of torque, paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. The finely honed chassis was developed in partnership with former Mercedes-Benz McLaren F1 driver David Coulthard, and the SLS earned street cred thanks to success in international GT3 competition. From 2013-on, Mercedes offered the GT version of the SLS, which made an additional 20 horsepower (up to 583) and added selectable suspension modes and greater use of carbon fiber.
