THE VIDEO HERE https://youtu.be/dzC32ctcY-U FOR SALE is a very
special 1969 MERCEDES 280S with an extremely rare 4-speed manual
transmission. You will not find one anywhere like it. This car was
purchased at a Mercedes dealership in Santa Cruz, CA in 1975 by the
previous owner. He was searching for two years at that dealership
for a manual transmission 280S until finally this came in. This man
kept the most meticulous records I have ever seen in any car
before. Every single service record was kept. Anything he did at
all he wrote down in a small booklet with the date and mileage. He
owned the vehicle for 47 years and always kept it in the garage. He
took all the precautions in keeping the vehicle in such beautiful
original condition by covering the seats, the dash and keeping the
car very clean at all times. The paint is believed to be all
original, and I have put a paint meter to it as shown in the video.
Absolutely no notable dents, scratches, and signs of damage. No
rust that I have seen anywhere. No previous rust repairs. This car
was really taken care of and very original. The paint still looks
very nice, I do not think there are really any major imperfections,
but do go to the video and see for yourself. The interior of this
vehicle is virtually flawless and is in remarkably original
condition. The seats are plush, dash, headliner, carpets and door
panels are as perfect as you will find. Cars are only original
once, so finding them in this condition is very difficult.
Mechanically it runs and drives great. It has the original 2.8L
M130 straight-six paired with the manual four speed transmission.
The motor is very healthy, sounds great and has plenty of power.
Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. There are no
unusual drivetrain or suspension noises. All suspension and
steering components are in proper working order. Clutch and brakes
feel perfect. EVERY SINGLE THING THAT WAS EVER DONE TO THE CAR WAS
WRITTEN IN A BOOKLET WITH RECEIPTS OF WHERE THE WORK WAS DONE.
Complete service record receipts indicate new or rebuilt: Master
clutch cylinder Stick shift bushings Water pump Steering box
rebuild, new fluid, less than 2,700 miles Rebuilt head, new valves,
stems, seats, etc. less than 3,000 miles Clutch slave cylinder,
less than 8,800 miles Front brake pads, brake hoses, less than
9,500 miles Dashboard heater controls less than 13,700 miles Rear
hydro-pneumatic compensator unit, less than 18k miles Rebuilt
gearbox, less than 88k miles Also included: brochures, the big blue
factory manual and a hand-written service log kept by the second
owner for 45 years plus. The driver side door opening weather seal
is worn, and just like every car there is always some TLC needed.
