Vehicle Description
2006 Ford Mustang GT Coupe
The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American cars,
distinguished as affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short
rear decks, and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet
Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Chrysler's revamped Plymouth
Barracuda, and the second-generation Dodge Challenger. The Mustang
is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupes such as the
Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United
States. As of August 2018, over 10 million Mustangs have been
produced in the U.S.
For consignment, a 48,211 original mile GT version of the Mustang.
This car, as per the Marti reportis 1 of 800 built in with this
paint color and trim codes and has been treated to a few tasteful
modifications such as a performance exhaust, a 1 piece driveshaft,
a Bama tune, and some engine dress up. This one owner car comes
with a clean CarFax and this is an S197 chassis GT, and in very
nice condition with the right look, sound, and stance. Isn't it
time for you to pony up?
Exterior
Satin Silver with black tape stripes come together to create the
menacing look for this muscle car. Ford went all out for the
design, reminiscent of the early models it just looks beefier, and
more refined on the line aspect. The front of the car is more
"aero" designed, and has an integrated body matching bumper,
blackened grille with fog lights, smoked headlight covers, and the
ubiquitous galloping pony. All these styling cues can be seen from
way back in 1965 with its grille shape, and rear taillight
configuration. More retro throwback appears with the triangle
shaped quarter glass being but with no chrome trimmings. Simple
blacked out trim surrounds all the beautifully tinted glass.
Blackened side view mirrors add to the menacing look and we note
some minimalistic but clean badging, and 17" factory premium cast
aluminum wheels wrapped with newer Pirelli 235/55ZR17's complete
the look with red caliper covers peeking through.
Interior
Granite gray leather and vinyl come together to make up the
upholstery for the front buckets and rear 2 plus 2 seats. As
expected for the mileage, both front seats show outer bolster wear
and light soiling on the lower cushions and the driver's bucket is
powered, as are the windows and locks. A very simple dash houses
another cue, more from 1967/1968 than 1965, in the form of the dual
circular embedded instruments behind the steering wheel, although
the 65 version utilized a horizontal speedometer. This car is also
equipped with the My Color dash, which allows the driver to
manipulate the dash backlighting to nearly any color they wish. An
AM/FM/CD Shaker 500 stereo system, A/C, and traction control fill
the center swooped down section of the dash. A TCI ratchet
automatic shifter, cup holders, and storage bin with a padded
armrest topper all share space in the black topped center console
that makes its way past the buckets to the rear 2 plus 2's. Nice
gray carpet has black carpeted factory floor mats which protect the
carpet and a clean gray felted headliner hangs above
Drivetrain
A 4.6 Liter, 3 Valve, V8 with EFI, attached to a 5R55S 5-speed
automatic transmission, puts power rearward to an 8.8" 3.31 geared
rear axle. All clean under this hood with the polished tower brace,
engine dress up cover, blue cam covers, various other billet add
ons and a BBK cold air intake for a little extra oomph on the
inhale.
Undercarriage
Typifying thes miles to the car, only minor surface rust has
appeared on the usual suspects, and we note a spattering of road
dirt covering the goldish/silver colored solid flooring. An
independent coil spring front suspension and 3-link rear suspension
keep this pony surefooted. As an add on to help this pony gallop
are Pypes headers and mufflers as well as high flow
catalyticconverters. Power disc brakes are noted all around as is
power steering and our consignor took the initiative to add a one
piece aluminum driveshaft.
Drive-Ability
Our muscle car crack decoder took this baby out to the track and he
had an absolute ball. I did not think he was going to return, but
alas he did and reported with a grin it performed great and is all
buttoned up on the drive-ability front. Sometimes it's nice to get
behind the wheel of an almost stock car and enjoy the way the
engineers and designers made them. All was working as it should and
the interior has that wonderful aged leather smell.
A well-presented and powerful running GT in Satin Silver with black
tape stripes, a very nice throwback to the Shelbys of yore. A
well-kept, one owner, low miles, sharp looking throwback pony,
presented for your enjoyment here at Classic Auto Mall.
