1951. This vehicle is truly one of a kind and one of the cleanest,
best driving 1960 Biscaynes that you will find! Buy with
confidence!!This is one of the best examples of a Chevrolet
Biscayne that you will find! This vehicle is in super clean, show
winning condition, and has even been featured in Muscle Car Review
Magazine!! This car has been in 4 issues of Muscle Car Magazine's
"Road- Ready Biscayne". The 4 Part series features key
modifications and upgrades to make this Biscayne "Road Ready" in
preparation for a road trip spanning all the way from San Diego
California, to Detroit Michigan! The step-by-step processes have
been documented for each modification, so you can get an
understanding on how everything was done, and how they make it a
great car for a road trip of that stature! And of course, the
404-mile shakedown trip, to truly test what they have done before
taking it on the nearly 2,500-mile haul across the country...The
first upgrade that the 2 friends did was a new air-conditioning
system! Fitted with a Sanded compressor, and Vintage Airs Mark IV
Styleline cool-only unit. The system would have a fitting retro
look, with the technology of a modern A/C system! The cabin would
be cool for the 2,300 miles journey through the mid-august desert
heat, and a week of cruising in the Motor City of Detroit! The A/C
system consists of 3 basic units, the condenser, compressor, and
evaporator. Read through the article to see how each piece of the
puzzle was fitted, and everything that went into the competition of
a fully operational Air-conditioning system in the 1960s Biscayne.
How are you going to drive across the county, in a midcentury
behemoth without Cruise control? You aren't! This vehicle has been
fitted with the Dakota Digital cruise control system! The turn
signal stalk has been fitted with the controls to make it easy to
use, and unnoticeable to most people! The step-by-step guide
towards the end of Part 1 will show you exactly how this
modification was completed. The Next part of "Read Ready Biscayne"
is geared towards drivability and safety, where the brakes and
steering are given some attention. Mentioned in the previous
article, the 4-wheel non-power drum brakes were fine-tuned and some
of the best that the gentleman has experienced, but a long trip
through mountain passes would grow concerns, one of them being
brake fade. With that being said, the brakes were upgraded with a
Summit Racing power disk brake conversion kit. The kit included
everything needed such as a new brake booster, master cylinder,
rotators, single-piston calipers, powder coated backets,
semimetallic pads, bearings, proportion valve, seals, hoses,
fittings, and hardware needed for the conversion! The no-power,
hard to turn steering was upgraded with a Classic Performance
Products 500 power steering box, along with a new aluminum radiator
with electric fans to allow it to fit! The steering has also been
upgraded with a new idler arm, idler arm bracket, center link, and
pitman arm, to give a much tighter, better feel that the stock
suspension components would give you! Part 3, The transmission:
Swapping out the old 4-speed for a brand new 700-R4 Automatic! This
is one of the best automatic transmissions you can get! The
reasoning behind this swap was all in spirit of making the best
cross-country classic you could have. The fuel economy would
significantly improve, and the engine would not be working nearly
as hard, due to the overdrive of the new transmission! Alongside
the new transmission came a new torque converter! The Summit torque
converter was specially picked, taking into account the tire size,
and rear end gear ratio, so they could get the correct speedometer
gear for an accurate reading. The torque converters lockup is
electro-hydraulically controlled with an independent toggle switch.
Modifying the transmission cross member and getting a custom-made
drive shaft was required to fit the transmission to ensure the rear
end was in the proper location with a proper range of motion. Since
there was already a spot in the floor where the old 4-speed shifter
used to sit, they opted for a Lokar floor mount shifter that has
the same swizzle stick look as Chevrolets original four speed
shifter! Part 4: The shakedown test. After all of these upgrades
and modifications that have been done, it was important to do a
real-world test... with that being said, the 2 friends designed a
trip from ocean side, California to Yuma. A 404-miles round trip
through the mountains at over 4,000 feet of elevation, and through
deserts at below sea level! Take a look at the article to see how
that went...At the time of the article (2013) this vehicle was
mentioned to be a 10-year-old restoration, making it about a
20-year-old restoration today. But you would never guess that...
This vehicle is in absolutely spectacular condition. This Biscayne

excellent with very few, very minor imperfections, that go

chrome trim and bumpers are also in excellent condition. The

the rear and 245 in the front! The gray vinyl and cloth interior is
also in excellent condition, this car is a show winner! Take a look

that from the factory! The interior also has a tachometer, and
added voltage, water temp, and Oil pressure gauges mounted below
the air-conditioning system! Take a look at the trunk as well,
