For Sale: 1962 Ford Ranchero in Arlington, Texas

Vehicle Description

1962 Ford Falcon Ranchero

Many people are familiar with the El Camino but Ford actually beat GM to the punch when they introduced the Ranchero in 1957. They were initially based on the Fairlane Station Wagon platform which integrated a cab and pickup bed into the body. Now you had the sleekness and agility of a car combined with the usefulness of a pickup. In 1960 there was a rise in the popularity of smaller compact and economical cars like the Volkswagen and Fords answer was the Falcon. The big manufacturers saw that people wanted more practical vehicles that were less expensive than a full size truck and the Ranchero was the perfect solution. Well this cool 1962 Ford Falcon Ranchero has been completely redone from top to bottom transforming it into an extremely unique custom. It was originally built in 1996 and has been driven 10,000 miles since completion. The car has been in California its entire life except for the past year while it has resided in San Antonio. It is entirely rust free and painted in a beautiful Blue paint. The front and rear bumpers are nicely chromed with a great shine. It has a custom billet front grill framed by custom square headlights. The glass is all in good shape and tinted. The truck has a very aggressive stance and rides on custom painted to match chrome Keystone wheels with BF Goodrich tires (255/60R - front, 305/50R - rear.)

Open up the scooped hood and you will find a high performance 302 motor (320hp) that was purchased in 1980 from Ford as a crate motor. It runs very strong and sounds great through Flowmaster 50 mufflers with 3 inch side outlets and chrome tips. The engine was very well built and has been fitted with a polished hi-rise manifold, Cyclone headers, chrome Holley 600 dp carburetor, a chrome air cleaner and chrome M/T valve covers. It is kept always running cool thanks to the custom made polished aluminum radiator with all braided lines. It isn't just all about performance though because the entire engine compartment looks excellent. You can tell everything was very thought out. The inner fenders and firewall are all gloss Black and a lot of the non polished features are painted Blue or have Blue accents to tie in with the body. The transmission is a Borg Warner T-10 top loader 4 speed which moves through the gears with ease. The car has High Jacker air shocks to help pull off the look and with that radical stance you better be ready to show off the undercarriage. Well that is no issue here because everything has a clean look and the 8.8 inch rear end with 355 gears is fully chromed. Its not everyday you see a rear differential with a mirror like finish. The gas tank is located under the rear with a Holley electric fuel pump. The truck has front disc brakes and the backing plates on the rear are all chromed out. Other nice components include the Mallory ignition system, battery/fuel cutoff switches and Optima battery which is located under the bed.

The interior of the car is all custom and done in a two tone light and dark Blue. It has comfortable high back bucket seats that sit to each side of the custom made center console. This console houses two cup holders and also contains two rear speakers. Behind the seats it is all finished out very nicely with custom storage pockets and a custom panel for additional speakers. The Kenwood stereo delivers a great sound but the cassette player does not operate properly. The dash has been modified with custom gauges and it has a second gauge pod mounted below. In front of the driver sits a chrome steering column topped off with a custom steering wheel. The entire bed is very nicely upholstered in a matching two tone design. It has a custom fit bed cover and contains the gas filler neck and courtesy lighting.

This has to be one of the most unique Rancheros on the road. It has a look that sets it a part and drives out great. You really don't see a lot of Falcons get customized to this level and the build was very well done. It comes with a custom fit car cover as well as a battery tender.
