Vehicle Description
This 1978 Volkswagen Super Beetle is a two-owner car coming off of
long-term ownership. It makes for a respected and affordable
drop-top that's perfect for hitting the road.
This car has been under the care of the same owner for the last 35
years. She is also believed to be its second owner ever. So this
car has the right history you want on a classic. In fact, since we
know this has not been painted under the second owner, the white
paint is believed to be the same finish that this one had when it
got off the boat from Germany. It's far from perfect after all
these decades, but it looks clean, complete, and respected. That
sets the tone for the whole car. It has the kind of history we love
to talk about in car circles, and this one wears its maturity with
pride. However, the value price and vast aftermarket mean it's easy
to budget for updates, upgrades, and/or personalization you want to
do to this VW.
The interior has a driver-ready style. After all, black looks good
against the exterior white (it's the same reason why the roof color
is attractive) and it's a utilitarian color that fits well with the
easy-to-enjoy nature of a Bug. Well-contoured bucket seats, the
proper Super Beetle dash, the classic Wolfsburg crest steering
wheel, and a well-placed shifter make it quite inviting for the
driver. There are some nice cruiser upgrades, like the AM/FM/CD
stereo that give you better driving music. And there are also wool
seat covers available that will certainly make it much nicer to hop
in and out on any sunny Sunday drive when you're wearing
shorts.
The air-cooled flat-four motor is a big reason for the Beetle's
desirability. They are hardy and fun, and this one has even been
converted from fuel injection to an earlier carbureted style to
keep it easy to service. It's believed to be the correct 1600
dual-port motor, which was the largest of the series. It makes for
a good pairing with the sturdy and versatile four-speed manual
transmission. Long-term care means it has been maintained correctly
so that this VW starts, idles, and shifts with confidence. Plus, as
a Super Beetle, you know you get the best of the breed. The
MacPherson strut independent front suspension is a welcomed
addition to those who enjoy cruising their classics.
The sale comes complete with the original warranty card and the
owner's manual. You may choose to upgrade details like the
convertible top or give the interior a deep cleaning, but overall,
this is the kind of Volkswagen that has an irresistible style and
history. Call today!!!
