Nothing says late seventies performance like Trans Am! With very few American cars left with any grunt, Pontiac managed to keep hope alive even with the advent of more constraining emissions and a slew of low compression, low horsepower performance cars.
Our offering is a beautiful example of a driver/cruise-quality 1978 Trans Am given new life. This 'Bird was completely restored to an original condition roughly 5 years ago by a local Pittsburgh restoration shop with only around 200 miles driven by its current owner since completion.
Body & Trim
Beautiful black, high-gloss paint really sets off the new red & gray striping, lettering and "screamin' chicken" decal on the hood. Brightwork shines well and is all there.
Interior
Bright red, dyed vinyl interior really pops from the exterior. No rips, tears or cracks anywhere from the dashboard to the seats to the rear package tray. Perfect carpeting is complimented with black cloth Firebird logo floor mats. Perfect, clear glass with no scratches or chips.
All factory interior gauges, controls and switches work as they should with the exception of the factory clock. Options include power windows, power locks, tilt steering wheel, 6000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, volt meter and 100 mph speedometer. Fully functional A/C and heater with all vents and fan operational. An upgraded, factory fit retro stereo was installed with digital tuning and USB connection for your phone or thumb drive.
Engine & Drivetrain
The non-modified Pontiac 400-cid engine is mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic ending in a 3.42 10-bolt posi rear-end. Fires right up with no smoke and settles into an ear-pleasing, throaty idle through the factory correct dual outlet chrome exhaust tips. A battery shut-off switch is installed under the hood. A fresh oil change complete the powertrain.
Chassis
Some minor patchwork can be seen on the floor pans and is sealed with semi-gloss undercoating throughout the frame and wheel wells. All suspension components are tight with no rattles and the car handles amazingly with the radial tuned suspension.
Wheels & Tires
A matching set of P225/70-R15 BFGoodrich Radial TA's installed new and date-coded 2017 have only 200 miles. The custom-painted, factory snowflake wheels match the black and red paint scheme and contain all center caps and chrome lug nuts. A full-sized spare is located in the trunk.
