With a performance-built small block, programmable Holley Sniper
fuel-injection, and a fully independent sport suspension means this
1965 Shelby Cobra already has everything you really want even
before you find out this sleek machine is a quality Factory Five
MK4 example. We all love a good Cobra. This roadster has bulging
fenders that look like they are trying to keep the beast within
contained. In fact, since these were out to eat Corvettes back in
the day, we find it quite cool that this one borrowed both the red
body color and white racing stripe color from the Corvette palette
(like a wolf using wool to blend in with the sheep.) This sleek
paint and the precision Factory Five body come together for a
quality overall presentation. This is a 60s-style street/track
machine, so there is an obligatory touch of chrome. Some pieces are
expected like the bumpers and dual roll hoops. But there are also
places that are performance pieces that just really deserve to get
noticed, like the side exhaust pipes and the trim rings on the
15-inch Halibrand-style wheels with genuine knock-off hubs.Factory
Five also knows how to get the interior right. The low-back bucket
seats are nicely padded and finished in a supple leather. You also
have the full Simpson racing harnesses and a sports shifter. And
there are Factory Five logos on everything from the floor mats to
the wood and chrome three-spoke sports steering wheel. They even
know to correctly use a competition-style reverse speedometer. It
all make for a quality classic machine. But there are also some
nice upgraded details. There's an exterior-matching red and white
racing tonneau to go over the cockpit, and the Holley Sniper EFI
with controller ahead of the shifter is an obvious investment in
modern performance.Under the hood is a performance-built 351
cubic-inch V8. This Ford legend looks great with the Cobra valve
covers and matching long air topper. But even more importantly, it
has been fortified and enhanced with all the right components. This
includes Speed Pro 030 Pistons, Speed Pro 030 Moly Rings, Isky
Racing hydraulic roller camshaft, hydraulic roller lifters, roller
rockers, pro comp aluminum heads, and Holley fuel injection. The
powerplant has been blueprinted and balanced, and the total package
is estimated at 450 horsepower. This kind of superior performance
is announced the moment you fire-up this Cobra up and let the
headers feed the growling side pipes. Plus, you have complete
control over this enhanced V8 and its monster soundtrack thanks to
the Tremec 600 five-speed manual transmission. Keeping you
connected to the road and on the best racing line is the
fully-independent race-inspired suspension with adjustable
coilovers. There's also rack & pinion steering, BF Goodrich T/As
with extra meaty rear ones, and Wilwood disc brakes at every
wheel. The sale comes with receipts and a full breakdown of all the
performance parts that it takes to make a Cobra of this magnetite.
