1965 CHEVOLET CORVETTE – ZZ502 ENGINE – TKX 5-SPEED TRANSMISSION
For the 1965 model year, Chevrolet offered the legendary “big block” engine in a Corvette for the first time. This vehicle was purchased by the previous owner in 2015 and was originally equipped with a 396-engine. During his ownership, the car won Second and a Top Flight award from NCRS, the last one in April 2018.
In 2022, the car was the beneficiary of mechanical upgrades to keep the race and classic style intact, including replacing the engine for a big block crate Chevrolet Performance ZZ502 Engine, MSD ignition, aluminum radiator, LED headlights, and a new Tremec TKX5 Speed transmission. The vehicle’s performance is astounding, with massive torque and endless pull from the 502 engine, along with an awesome soundtrack. Road manners are excellent with superb handing and a tight, well-sorted feel. This car is genuinely fast, very well sorted and incredibly enjoyable to drive.
Produced only during the second half of the model year, this 1965 ½ Corvette coupe is one of just 2,157 examples built with the 396 and is finished in its original colors of Glen Green over a saddle deluxe leather interior. It is a well-presented car with a quality, well-detailed older restoration still appearing in good order. The body is extremely straight with crisp lines and a very good panel fit. Glen Green is a fabulous color on the Bill Mitchell-penned body, and the paint on this car presents in pristine condition, with just a few minor cracks visible upon close inspection. Overall, it is extremely attractive with nice chrome and good quality detailing. It rides on a set of reproduction P48 knock-off wheels with new whitewall radial tires for just the right look.
