Vehicle Description
STK 10223 1980 Suzuki GS550E
Throughout the early 1970's Suzuki powered their street bikes with
2-cylinder/2-stroke motors that were very strong. However, by the
mid-70s it became obvious that Suzuki needed to move to the
4-stroke arena of Honda and Yamaha. Enter the Suzuki GS lineup in
with the middleweight GS550. It was powered by a 4-stroke 549cc
DOHC air-cooled 4-cylinder engine that was rated at 49hp @
9,000rpm. It was equipped with Mikuni diaphragm carburetors (4),
electric start and six-speed gearbox. The second generation,
GS550E, added alloy wheels, hydraulic disc brakes and new seat
design. This 1980 GS550E has been well cared for and shows 35,000
miles on the odometer. The factory Suzuki Blue paint and chrome
accessories are in good condition. There is a left-side kickstand,
center stand and engine-guard highway bars. The seat has been
reupholstered and it appears that the chrome 2-into-1 dual exhaust
system is original and still in good condition, very unusual to see
on a bike of this age. Front forks are stock, but the rear shocks
have been replaced with a set of RFY coil-over air-shocks. Good
looking and very reliable, this classic Suzuki GS550E is a solid
performer, still is a good road bike today. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS
IS".
