For Sale: 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

When the words "big block" and "Chevelle" meet, a good time is pretty much guaranteed. Wrap a thorough, frame-up restoration around correct red and black aesthetics and you end up with a tire-melting, conversation-starting A-body that everyone will stop to look at. This real-deal Super Sport is a complete, road ready cruiser that features an original 396, a stout Richmond 4+1 5-speed and a restoration that's fully sorted and ready to rock and roll. If you're a buyer who seeks absolute authenticity, we can certainly accommodate you. But, if you're one of the growing number of enthusiasts who wants to actually enjoy the performance, look, and value of Chevrolet's ultimate muscle car, this '66 Chevelle is your opportunity to turn someone else's toil into your new pastime!

AUTHENTIC SUPER SPORT LOOKS

The beneficiary of a comprehensive, frame-up restoration, this Chevy's solid body is an excellent combination of original and replacement panels. When it comes to classic cars, a lot of people simply don't understand the difference between a frame-up restoration and a frame-off restoration. If a car has been frame-up restored, that means it's probably been envisioned as a nice cruiser that's been rebuilt as needed. In contrast, a frame-off restoration, which was likely completed all at once, would indicate an owner's desire to attend shows. It's not a matter of one being better than the other, it really just depends on what you're looking for when it comes to purchasing the car of your dreams. And even though this clean Chevelle can easily be parked on a show field, the car's quality, frame-up restoration ensures it's sorted enough to truly have fun in! Most of the Super Sport-specific trim, a blacked-out grille and rear valance, a silver bumper filler, a tweaked hood, ornate rocker trim and varied Super Sport ornamentation, was reinstalled during the body's freshening. And Jeff's Paint and Body Shop of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina applied a correct coat of Regal Red two-stage that's been buffed to a glossy shine.

AUTHENTIC SUPER SPORT POWER

Hoist this coupe's long hood and you'll find an original, 396 cubic inch L35 V8 that wears a correct 3855961 casting number behind a correct "EDH" suffix stamp and a matching 113617 partial VIN. Featuring a stout 325 horsepower in factory guise, this buff big block was recently rebuilt with a few choice modifications. A big Holley carburetor and an aluminum Weiand intake join modern roller rockers, an aftermarket HEI distributor, a deep-sump oil pan and sleeved Taylor plug wires to put the "SS" in Stoplight Slayer. And items like satin fenders, custom valve covers, a 14-inch air cleaner, polished fuel lines and traditional Chevy Orange skin ensure the mill is very impressive to look at.

AUTHENTIC MUSCLE CAR FEEL

That storied mill spins power to a tough Richmond 4+1 5-speed. That tough transmission is hooked to a traditional 12-bolt axle that's finished with a posi-traction differential and 3.09 gears. Under that drivetrain, a double A-arm front and rear leaf suspension employs dual sway bars. Factory power steering is a welcome addition to any muscle car. Stops are provided by a familiar setup of front discs and rear drums. Long-tube headers flow into aluminized pipes, which hang an H-shaped crossover in front of great sounding, dual-chamber mufflers. And at the corners of the car, 18-inch Rocket Booster Hyper Shots spin 225/45 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 275/40 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs.

AUTHENTIC MUSCLE CAR STYLE

During this Chevelle's careful restoration, a new interior was installed over high quality Dynamat insulation. Correct Super Sport trim abounds, with factory bucket seats framing a simple Hurst shifter. Durable floor mats and correct Deluxe Seatbelts are present and accounted for. A digital AM/FM head unit makes excellent use of large Pioneer deck speakers. In front of the driver, a 4-spoke, cross-flag-branded steering wheel laps optional RPO U14 Special Instrumentation and an AutoMeter 'knee knocker' tach. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk features a correct jack and full-size spare tire.

If a run-of-the-mill Camaro or Nova simply won't do, this high-quality Chevelle is your perfect solution! Restoring any classic to the condition of this Chevy will probably cost about twice our asking price and, even if you started today, it would probably be a year before that project began resembling a finished car. So, why not give in to temptation and let this real-deal Super Sport show you exactly what instant gratification is all about!
