Vehicle Description
The newly designed third generation Barracuda hit showrooms on a
completely new E-Body platform designed by John Herlitz. It would
be shorter and wider that its predecessor, and although shared
similarities to its Dodge sibling, had zero interchangeable body
parts. Offered only in Coupe and Convertible form, you could choose
a base model, luxurious Gran Coupe, or sport "Cuda models. The
wider stance was necessitated by the need for more engine space to
accommodate the big block powerplants available as the 440ci and
426ci Hemi V8's. These high performance inspired engine options
required uprated suspension and drivetrain components to better
deliver power to the ground! Today, they are highly sought after
and continue to appeal to a broad array of classic car enthusiasts,
both young and old!
We are very proud to offer this beautifully restored 1970 Plymouth
'Cuda Hardtop Coupe finished in factory appointed EV2- Torred over
H6X9- Black Vinyl bucket seat interior! This exceptionally solid
example was treated to a complete, rotisserie restoration with
nothing left untouched to bring it back to better than showroom new
condition! Power comes from a rebuilt, date-code correct 440ci-4bbl
Super Commando V8 engine producing a factory rated 375 horsepower
and shifted through a 1969-dated A833 4-speed Hurst pistol-grip
manual transmission, out to a Sure-Grip 4.10 Dana 60 rear axle!
According to the original fender tag, this stellar 'Cuda was
appointed with these factory attributes along with power front disc
brakes, Super Trak Pak package with high performance axle,
color-keyed sport mirrors with driver remote, Chrysler solid-state
AM radio, and body side 440 hockey stripe.
The rotisserie restoration finished by a specialist based in
Florida began with a completely stripped, bare metal before
expertly painted in a base coat/ clear coat fashion with all new
window seals and weather stripping installed upon completion. It
has all new interior upholstery, carpet, and headliner while
retaining the original steering wheel, radio, date-coded seatbelts,
Chrysler window glass (except windshield), and dash
instrumentation. It also possesses 'Cuda rubber floor mats. It
rides on 15" Rallye wheels wrapped in period Goodyear Polyglas GT
E60-15 raised white letter tires.
The N96 Fresh Air Shaker hood was added to the car in 2021 finished
in Astrotone Silver for more aggressive presentation! We also have
a new set of polished aluminum US Mags Rambler U110 wheels
measuring 17x7" up front and 17x8" at the rear with Nitto NT555
tires measuring 225/50ZR17 & 255/50ZR17 respectively to go with
this car. It gives it an enhanced, modern presentation along with a
better radial road feel!
It retains a wonderful factory presentation throughout, including
the factory radiator with correct hose clamps, factory exhaust
manifolds feeding a Chrysler designed 4-muffler exhaust system,
presentation sticker under the hood & trunk, as well as factory
spare tire and jack tools. Upgrades include stainless steel fuel
and brake lines along with polyurethane sway bar bushings. Upon
arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, we had the transmission
rebuilt internally with a new 1st-2nd synchronizer assembly, 2nd
gear spline, new bearing & seal kit, and adjusted the clutch &
shifter linkage; changed the engine oil/filter; and installed a
fresh battery. It runs and drives wonderfully and should easily
impress the next owner just the same. We welcome opportunities to
see this vehicle in person, so please call to schedule an
appointment or with questions about how to add it to your
garage!
