Vehicle Description
This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS is the kind of hardtop that turns up
the power car fun in all the best places. It takes the iconic 409
displacement and then strokes the engine and adds dual quads on
top. You get better control over the monster motor thanks to a
five-speed upgrade. And there's even an upgraded suspension
including four-wheel disc brakes. So are you ready for an awesome
road-ready icon?
The '62 Impala is iconic. It has the hallmark six tail light
arrangement, wraparound chrome bumpers, and a wide grille allow
this one to own the road. But the brightwork we think you'll enjoy
the most is the full-length spear that runs the full profile. It
has a terrific machine-turned insert that makes this feel like a
true Super Sport - and so they also repeated it on the rear panel.
This one is all about being a driver at its heart, and so it's
presented in a road-ready style that makes it easy to enjoy without
getting nervous. So we like how the finish has a bit of blacktop
battle style. However, the trim tag tells us this is a factory
Tuxedo Black car, and so it would be historically correct if you
ever wanted to respray it for a piano-like luster. And no matter
how you choose to motor, the upgraded 17-inch American Racing Torq
Thrust wheels are attractive for their great vintage attitude while
also giving this the unmistakable stance of an upgraded
machine.
The blackout continues inside. The carpeting, upholstery, door
panels, and dash pad have an overall clean presentation that makes
this a comfortable driver. There are nice factory-style details
like the working dome light and the button-top style on the seats
and door panels. Plus, nothing beats the look of rolling down all
the windows to show off the hardtop profile. And as a true Super
Sport, you have front bucket seats and a center console. That
show's it's a driver's car, and that feeling is furthered with
upgrades like the Hurst shifter, added tach, auxiliary readouts,
and an upgraded sports steering wheel on a tilt column.
Under the hood is the clean look of a mean motor. The 409
cubic-inch big block is a legend for these cars, and we're even
told it has been stroked to 482ci total. It has been upgraded
further with an Edelbrock suite that includes Edelbrock aluminum
heads, an Edelbrock intake, and dual Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetors on top. The long tube headers add even more power while
giving a powerful growl to the dual exhaust and Flowmaster
mufflers. More than just pure power, it also has the right
supporting components, including a full MSD ignition system. It's a
strong and thoughtfully-built package, and you have full control
over it all thanks to the Tremec five-speed manual transmission. As
you look underneath, you'll spot more worthwhile upgrades,
including Hotchkis sway bars and boxed rear arms. Add in power
steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and grippy ZR-rated tires,
and this is the powerful Impala that's also a solid cruiser.
Complete with build receipts, here's an iconic hardtop that growls
with power. So you know it's the one you're going to love. Call
