In August 1986, the Mustang received a facelift for the 1987 model year on both the interior and exterior. The front end was restyled to look more like the SVO which gave the car more of an "Aero" look, in keeping with Ford's overall modern styling direction. The interior received an all-new dash, center console and revised seat and door trim. The quarter glass windows lost their louvers and now sport a single larger flush piece of glass lettered with "Mustang" at the bottom rear corners. The 302 cu in (5.0 L) Mustangs became popular with the aftermarket performance industry. For 1989, the Mustang's speed density computer system was replaced with a mass air system. This change slightly reduced factory horsepower but it made Mustangs much easier to modify. With the mass air system, changes made to the intake, engine and exhaust system would be recognized and compensated for by the ECU, resulting in a correct air/fuel ratio and optimum power. This particular example is completely rust free with 26,598 original miles. It has a custom paint job that is about 4 years old and still shows incredibly well. The top half is Black, the bottom half is Silver Metallic and the two are tastefully separated by a cool purple stripe. It now has door poppers and the hood is adorned with iridescent flames that look amazing! Earlier this summer it was completely gone through mechanically at which time it received a new timing chain, a new water pump and a brand new set of Ford GT40P cylinder heads. It has a cold air intake, a MSD ignition and it sounds just plain nasty ripping through its performance exhaust system. It has a newer set of staggered racing rims with 245/45R17 front tires and 275/40R17 on the rears. With the exception of a Pioneer Stereo the interior is completely original. All said and done this is an extremely tastefully accessorized car in incredible condition. We have priced it fairly so if you like what you see you should call us before it’s too late!
