1950 Plymouth Hot Rod was made into a gasser drag car sometime
around 2010-11,and as far as I know thats all it was used for
untill I got it in the summer of 2013,but now it is my daily
driver,my first thought was a all out street rod with sub frame and
power everything but the more I played with it the more I liked the
gasser look and lets face it you cant turn a corner anymore without
running into a street rod with a 350 chevy and a turbo 350 with
full power and air ,well I have a new truck for all that so I left
everything as a race car but I cleaned ,detailed and painted
everything and i titled and taged it here in oklahoma and basicly
street legaleized this beast and I been running the wheels off it
ever since but as much of a beast as it is now before it was not
tameable for street use with the 440 drag engine so I put a more
street friendly 69 model mopar big block 383 in it that has been
ported and has a big cam plus i used several things off the race
engine,the deep sump oil pan,eletronic ignition,holley fuel
pump, headers, and it aint no slouch and it still has the race 727
trany with reverse shift pattern manuel shift valve body, and B/M
quick silver shifter and out back is new 4:10 gears in a 8 3/4 sure
grip(posi track) with pinion snubber, drive shaft loop and traction
bars and street slicks with new skinnys up front, you will think it
just rumbled off the drag strip and it is still a bare bonz light
weight race car with just 2 front seats and safety belts and no
back seat just a roll bar in the back,it has a fuel cel and the
battery mounted in the trunk, and it has new fabricated sheet metal
firewall and floors,I think it is the original paint on the out
side and it gets more compliments than a all out custom paint job
could ever get and the only body mods so far are the rear fenders
have been cut out for the big ol slicks it ran on the strip,I have
been restoring the original dash and I rewired the complete car and
all the lights are led except the head lights and they are halogen,
I just finished installing all new king pins and bushings and all
new front wheel bearings and seals in the narrowed econoline front
axle with all hiem joints and new vega steering box,the interior is
being built now with custom one off door panels and custom one
piece head liner and when its done I will have to adjust the price
for all the expense,it is a one of a kind hot rod.
