For Sale: 1965 Chevrolet El Camino in Mooresville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

HIGHLIGHTS: Dedicated drag car! Dart 396ci small block V8! 8 rear end! Brodix heads! This El Camino is the old school drag car of your dreams! Same family owned for 20+ years!

BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this El Camino is nice by drag car standards, however it is worth noting that the bed and floor pans have been replaced and modified as part of its conversion for use on the strip, as can be seen in the photos. The hood and both bumpers are fiberglass, and there are some visible cracks.

PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: While the paint on this El Camino isn't new, and has taken some wear from time spent hurtling down the drag strip, it still shows nicely and is sure to look great flying by at over 100MPH!

INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: In true drag racer fashion, there isn't much interior to this car, but what is in there is in serviceable condition. The dash is largely complete, though as seen in the photos the switches that control everything take up where the radio should be. Just about everything unnecessary has been removed. In some ways, this car is truly a throwback to old school drag racing!

MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood is where things get interesting! The original drivetrain has long been replaced by a modified 396ci small block V8 hooked up to a Powerglide transmission and a Mopar 8 rear end. This sucker will really shake the dust off your rafters! The current owner has provided a list of other upgrades and details including the following:

-Dart Little M engine block
-18 degree Brodix heads w/ 2.125 valves
-Callies crankshaft
-Carrillo piston rods
-JE pistons
-Shaft rockers
-1050CFM Quick Fuel carburetor
-MSD ignition
-4500 TCE converter
-Transbrake valve body
-Mosler axles
-Aluminum driveshaft

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: This is a classic example of true drag racing and hot rodding-and if it doesn't turn heads, it's sure to hurt some ears!

WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: If you're looking for something fun and comfortable to take the kids to get ice cream in, this is NOT the car for you!

DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? Only if you want it to be street legal!

WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Whether you're looking for a fantastic foundation to get situated for the next racing season, or something seriously powerful to convert for street use, this El Camino could be a good choice!
