Vehicle Description
This 1989 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE is a very vintage V8 pickup. It's an
impressively low-mileage survivor that's loaded with all the best
features. And when it's both comfortable and useful, it makes for
the right mix of both a cool classic and a handy asset... all for
an affordable price.
This was one of the first years for the new style Sierra. It set a
new tone in pickups where there could be sleeker without losing any
of that professional grade attitude. That's why we like finding one
that's such a time capsule. The story we're told is that the first
and only owner passed away and it was tucked away in the garage for
years rather than initially sold. That's how you get a 30+ year-old
pickup with only about 23k miles on the odometer. The low mileage
is especially reflected in the condition of the sheet metal, and so
it makes for a clean and straight way to showcase the
awesome-looking factory paint. This Sierra will really impress you
right down to the details. This includes the clean look of the
stock wheels and the bold red pinstripe that helps divide the
maroon and silver two-tone. As much as a terrific survivor this one
is that will be fun to show off, it's also still a true GMC that
loves to get to work. The full bed topper, thick rubber bed mat,
and proper trailer hitch mean this true classic is also ready to
earn its keep.
The interior continues the time capsule style. So you'll love the
details, right down to the GM rubber floor mats to the working
courtesy lights. An attractive style is especially nice on an SLE
trim because it's also loaded. It includes power windows, power
locks, cruise control, a tilt steering column, and the classic GM
AM/FM stereo with a separate cassette. And we especially like the
seats, while the SLE is a premium trim, these high-back bucket
seats look like the kind of addition the dealer did back in the day
to give you a long-haul comfy Texas truck. It's quite nicely done
with coordinating upholstery and a center jump seat that folds down
into a cup holder console.
Under the hood is GM's famous 5.7-liter small block, and it comes
from the time when the factory was installing fuel injection from
day one. It fires up and drives with the confidence of a hardy FI
machine. Plus, you have easy driving features like power steering,
power brakes, front discs, and new tires. This also has a
four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive.
So you have a survivor that's also easy to enjoy over trips near or
far.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet and nice
extras like full mudguards. There are a few details that come with
time where you will find the A/C needs seals replaced or the
exhaust may need updating. It's the kinds of little things when a
truck gets lost in history like a barn find (most of us just see
that as part of showcasing its survivor tale.) And overall, it's
amazingly impressive how clean and preserved this GMC is. But the
most extraordinary part is how this full package is so affordable.
