Vehicle Description
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 502 Tribute has a bold radiating
look on the outside. So it sets the right tone for the
nitrous-injected 502ci big block power, overdrive transmission, and
four-wheel disc brakes that makes it one heck of an upgraded
icon.
The body is dressed in a smooth and vibrant yellow that makes
people stand at attention from blocks away. We could say that this
burning-hot finish gives this car some serious aggression, but the
'70 Chevelle already defined what a beefy muscle car should be. Its
crisp creases, sharply-pointed front end, and sleek fastback
profile make it fundamentally intimidating. And this has the right
Super Sport upgrades you want, like the cowl hood, hood pins, and
wide dual exhaust tips. And the painted black SS stripes kick off a
full dark side that includes the grille, tinted windows, upgraded
17-inch wheels, and taut-fitting vinyl roof. And while you're
looking at the shine of the big chrome bumper up front, don't
forget to notice that two headlights are now grilles. It's the kind
of distinctive detail that lets people know this one earns its
aggressive style.
The black interior has the right mix of a clean style but nothing
that will even make you worry about dusty shows on family and
friends. And as much as this is fun to take everyone for a ride,
you can really tell the investments focus on the drive. That's why
you have nicely bolstered modern front bucket seats featuring wide
headrests and Corbeau racing harnesses. There's also a sports
steering wheel on a tilt column, power steering, a center console
with auxiliary readouts, a Hurst shifter, and a full set of
AutoMeter Carbon Fiber gages. There's a fully upgraded radio with
an AM/FM/CD stereo that includes USB and Bluetooth to upgrade the
driving music. But music doesn't get in the way of performance.
That's why the subwoofer box and NOS tank can live together in the
ample trunk.
The whole engine bay has a beautifully dark style that showcases a
serious power package. This 502 cubic-inch crate V8 is larger than
anything the factory gave the Chevelle. We're told it's a
performance-built motor that includes aluminum heads and a more
aggressive camshaft. And those headlights were eliminated so that
you can have dual tubes deliver cold air into the motor like a
classic Olds W-30 system. This feeds the Holley 850 double-pumper
four-barrel carburetor and an aluminum intake. And the full package
exhales with added power and rumble as headers feed the X-pipe dual
exhaust. This is supported by the right pieces, like an aluminum
radiator, electric fans, March pulleys, an MSD 6AL ignition, and
the battery mounted in the trunk for better weight distribution.
The full package is said to be dyno rated at 618hp/605 lb-ft of
torque, and that doesn't even yet account for the 100 hp shot of
nitrous (we're told the system has yet to be engaged on the motor.)
The four-speed automatic transmission gives you overdrive comfort
and better ratios to enjoy the power. And there's said to be a
Positraction rear end for confident take-offs. Sway bars (front &
rear), reinforced rear suspension arms, ZR-rated tires, and
four-wheel power disc brakes with drilled & slotted rotors are all
there to give you added confidence when enjoying this powerful
coupe.
