Vehicle Description
Debuting in 1959 in Oxford, England the iconic Mini Cooper was
designed by Sir Isaac Issigonis to rival the French and German
microcar designs. The Mini Cooper began as a small, two-door,
four-seat car being produced by the British Motor Corporation and
its successors. A front wheel drive vehicle with a transverse
engine set up not only saved room to allow for 4 seats but was also
very efficient in power delivery. Going from conception to
completion in only two years, the Mini Cooper became one of the
most influential cars of the 20th century with over 5.3 million
made over the course of 40 years and known for being a great city
driver and its accomplishments in the rally racing world alike.
Enduring through company changes for years, the Mini Cooper became
its own brand in 1969 and entered the Mark III generation of
production which spanned from 1969 until 1976. This generation
featured roll up front windows, larger rear quarter windows and the
lack of exterior door hinges for a smoother, sleek appearance
resulting in a sales peak during this period. The 3 available
engine options included the 848cc, 998cc and the 1275cc which was
featured solely for Cooper S models. The Mini Cooper has been a
pop-culture hit in Britain since the 1960s and the fact that the
Mini Cooper is still around today is a testament to the engineering
and design of this spectacular microcar.
We are excited to offer this 1974 Mini Cooper 1300 finished in Red
with Black stripes on the hood and Black & Gray interior. Powering
this Mini Cooper is the desired 1275cc 1.3L engine mated to a
4-speed manual transmission. Featuring power front disc brakes with
rear drums, front & rear chrome bumpers, front mounted rally
foglamps, vinyl roof, dual side mirrors, defrost, heat, Veglia
instrumentation, tachometer, wood shift knob, and spare tire.
Showing only 99,898 Kilometers, this Mini Cooper is a great
opportunity to own a fun compact car to drive that handles
remarkably well and really hugs the road. Originally built in
Pamplona, Spain this well cared for Mini was purchased by a Navy
service member in 2018 while stationed in Spain. It was restored by
a Mini specialist, Talleres Fran, there to her discretion and to
fully enjoy while in country. This included wheel and rocker flares
to incorporate larger 12" Ultralite 8-spoke aluminum wheels along
with a full repaint and an all new interior. Inside, the upholstery
was refinished in a custom two-tone design over high back MPI
bucket seats, red carpeting, custom leather wrapped steering wheel,
and billet aluminum window crank & interior door handles.
She would import the Mini Cooper stateside in December 2020 adding
minimal mileage since its arrival. Another assignment overseas now
forces the sale, and we are confident it will not take long for a
new buyer to jump on this opportunity. In preparation, it has
recently had the engine oil/filter changed, new air filter,
complete coolant flush, new thermostat & gasket, and radiator cap
installed. These are not commonly found in the USA marketplace for
sale. With the Mini Cooper line now owned by BMW and new
generations still coming out to this day, this classic Mini Cooper
design won't go out of style anytime soon and is sure to catch
plenty of attention cruising around. Thank you for your interest
