Vehicle Description
By now you've probably realized your friends at RK Motors enjoy
finding killer Chevelles. The faster, the nicer, the more unique:
THE BETTER! Over the past ten years, we've brought you some of the
most mind-blowing, potent and flat-out nasty pro-touring resto-mods
in the muscle car scene. And, based on the countless times we've
watched these cars roll through our showroom, you guys enjoy them
just as much as we do. Then again, how could anyone not love a
stylish classic that can outrun, out turn, out stop and out class
machines that are half its age and twice its price? Combining
yesterday's style with today's tech and tomorrow's value, this
exquisite 1969 Malibu, wrapping professionally built LS power in
proven hardware and tasteful aesthetics, was created for the
enthusiast who wants the absolute best. If you've been languishing
at your desk debating a purchase while your favorite American
muscle cycles through our inventory, here's a quick chance at
redemption!
THE FROSTING ON THE CAKE
Completing an intricate transformation from solid Detroit steel
into a lean, mean Chevrolet dream machine, this magazine-featured
coupe is the product of a meticulous nut-and-bolt rotisserie build.
The car's date-correct Frost Green paint, sprayed by the pros at
Petersburg, Virginia's BK Customs, is a trick affair that uses
tinting to accentuate lower body lines. That pigment dresses filled
seams and filled marker lamps under custom, carefully airbrushed
quarter panel scripts. And the end result is one seriously lethal
showpiece that, thanks to major street presence and exceptional
curb appeal, earned PPG's Best Use of Color Award at the 2017
Goodguys North Carolina Nationals!
Zoom in on the details and this custom continues to impress. At the
front of its body, a clean factory grille centers a classy blue
bowtie between factory paint, chromed moldings and modern
headlights that are seated in chromed bezels. A professionally
chromed bumper cages factory parking lamps opposite a shaved header
panel that leads a louvered Super Sport hood. Speaking of shaved,
the car's sporty profile has been shaved of everything but polished
mirrors, chromed wheel liners and factory door handles. Those
mirrors reflect tight black vinyl, which caps smoked glass that's
cleared by polished wipers and framed in chromed stainless. And out
back, a shaved decklid shades factory taillights and a second
chromed bumper.
PROVEN POWER, MODERN PERFORMANCE
Gaze into this Chevy's custom engine bay and you'll find 5.7 liters
of professionally built small block that, thanks to the pros at
Petersburg, Virginia's Quality Machine Shop, is just as comfortable
cruising country roads as it is lining up at late night stoplights!
Straight from GM, the trusty LS1 is a fully sorted package that
combines a sturdy aluminum block with lightweight aluminum heads,
coil-near-plug ignition and aluminum flat top pistons to create
razor sharp throttle response and lightning quick acceleration. At
the front of the Frost Green engine, a polished Street &
Performance filter kit funnels breeze through a chromed throttle
body that's cinched to a chromed Weiand low-rise intake. Inside the
bored block, a polished crank spins fresh pistons beneath a hot
Erson cam, which plays well with Erson valves, Erson rockers, Erson
springs and Erson lifters. Ground and polished heads tilt
color-keyed rocker covers. High octane fossils are juiced by GM
electronic fuel injection. Spent gases traverse a slick pair of
coated Hooker Super Competition headers. Cooling comes courtesy of
a polished aluminum radiator that's complete with polished tubes, a
polished tank, spry MARADYNE fans and a bowtie-branded cap. A
polished March serpentine drive spins a polished alternator and a
polished AC compressor in front of quality Erson timing components.
Everything communicates well thanks to tuning by Richmond,
Virginia's EFI Performance. And not a detail has been missed in
this Chevy's smooth engine bay, with items like stainless lines,
polished dipsticks and a polished latch complementing niceties like
custom cowl vents, a baffled Holley oil pan and billet Eddie
Motorsports hood supports.
THE SECOND LAYER OF FROSTING
Take a gander under this wicked A-Body and you'll find a fully
detailed chassis that mixes new age technology with old school
durability. Solid floorpans wear a highly polished coat of Frost
Green two-stage. At the center of those floors, a dressed 4L80
4-speed makes excellent use of a dressed 12-bolt axle. Stopping is
a cinch thanks to a polished booster, polished calipers and four
drilled and slotted rotors. Turns are greatly enhanced by
factory-style power steering. That system leads a stripped,
smoothed and painted frame that's bolted to big sway bars,
adjustable coil-overs, tubular UMI arms and Classic Performance
Products drop spindles. Exhaust is channeled through polished,
large-diameter pipes, which swirl sweet rumbles through an X-shaped
crossover and polished Pypes Race Pro mufflers. Gas gets drained
from a fully polished tank. And torque melts the pavement thanks to
handsome Billet Specialties Furys, which spin 235/40ZR18 Nitto
NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 275/35ZR20 Nitto NT555 Extreme
ZRs.
MODERN DESIGN, TIMELESS STYLE
Behind the car's solid-closing doors you'll find a tastefully
customized interior that, thanks to the pros at Prince George,
Virginia's Stingray Upholstery, maintains just the right amount of
classic flash! Front-and-center, a warp-free dash hangs contrasted
Dakota Digital VHX telemetry beside modern Pioneer audio and
Vintage Air climate control. Below that dash, a factory console
slides a factory Horseshoe Shifter on contrasted carpet that frames
billet foot pedals. A quartet of bucket seats features a sweet
combination of leather and suede. Speaking of suede, a suede
headliner complements a custom package tray and custom side panels
that front billet strikers and billet jamb vents. And the driver
spins a stylish Billet Specialties Fury wheel around a polished,
tilting column.
In summary, this awesome Chevelle represents creative engineering
at its very finest, combining timeless design with no-excuses,
no-limits performance. Put it on a pedestal and stare at it... Take
it to the local cruise in... Whatever you elect to do with this
cool coupe, it's sure to be the centerpiece of your collection, the
focal point of your garage and, most importantly, the car you most
look forward to driving and being seen in!
