Vehicle Description
1969 Pontiac GTO Convertible - 400 V8 - Automatic Transmission -
Light Green Over Green Interior - Restored In 1999 Fate intervened
cruelly in 1969 as insurance companies weighed in against muscle
cars, complaining about accidents and raising rates as a result.
Since Pontiac's image was that of a performance brand, it was a big
blow. Many consider 1969 as the last golden year for the muscle
era. While Pontiac's sales were a little overshadowed by the
competitors, the image of the GTO remained indestructible. By that
year, Pontiac had developed a two-year restyle cycle. The design
was a carryover from the previous year. Both the exterior and the
interior remained largely unchanged from 1968. The standard
powertrain was also the same 400 cubic inch V8 delivering 350 hp.
The economy option was again available at no extra cost, but only
with a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission. Power brakes with
front discs were also standard GTO equipment for the year. New for
1969, was also the optional power flow ventilation system. Garage
Kept Motors is excited to offer this Limelight Green 1969 Pontiac
GTO Convertible. This car underwent a cosmetic restoration in 1999
and is showing some light signs of wear and tear around the edges.
During the restoration the rear quarter panels were replaced and
the correct Limelight Green metallic paint was applied. Overall,
the paint presents well with a nice luster. Other exterior features
include hideaway headlights, power convertible top and the iconic
Pontiac hood tach. Inside the cabin the green interior vinyl
upholstery and door panels are in good condition free of any rips
or tears and the carpet shows some light signs of sun fade typical
of convertibles. The dash features the optional Rally Clock and
floor mounted console shifter. The AM radio is still present with a
Pioneer AM/FM Tuner with Auxiliary inputs for iPod or phone inputs
mounted in the dash glove box. Additional audio speakers have been
installed in the front kick panels and rear interior side panels. A
set of AutoMeter gauges monitor the oil pressure and coolant
temperature. Under the hood sits a 400 V8 and options include power
steering and power front disc brakes. An Edelbrock carburetor with
electric choke has replaced the factory Rochester Quadrajet. The
undercarriage presents as unrestored and all original with solid
floorboards. The big V8 is backed by a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed
automatic 400 transfer the power back to the factory Safe-T-Trac
with performance 3.55:1 rear gears. The exhaust rumbles nicely
through dual exhaust equipped with a set of DynoMax Super Turbo
mufflers. Power is put to the pavement via factory Rally II rims
wrapped in a set of Firestone Radial tires. This GTO is a great
cruiser, ready to hit the main street boulevard or the two lanes
with the top down and the wind in your hair. Please call if
