For Sale: 1965 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in STANWOOD, Michigan

Vehicle Description

Offered for sale is a very nice and really cool 1965 VW Karmann Ghia convertible with a 4-speed manual transmission.

The VW starts easily, runs strong, and drives down the road tight and right.

In good operating condition with some wear from use and age.  Body is in good condition with some light scratches and marks, and some rust bubbling primarily along the lower rocker panels....which would be easy to remove.  The body lines are straight, and there are no noticeable dents.  The body filler analysis checked out great, with all green lights showing no filler, with exception of lower part of passenger side fender just behind the front tire, which showed only 1/16" of filler....which is a very thin layer within a very acceptable level.

The front seat covers were recently replaced.  The white soft top has some wear and two holes....a new soft top will be included with the sale.  There is some light rust and tarnish on the dash instruments, and there is wear on the steering wheel.  The front and rear bumpers are in good condition with some very light scratches, pitting, and tarnish.  The floorboards and undercarriage are solid with no rust holes.  The undercarriage was recently cleaned up and rubber coated.

The odometer shows 36,650, but has likely rolled over and is actually 136,650 miles.

This groovy car is a deep dark metallic blue, which is believed to be a color change from an original light blue color similar to the Karmann Ghia featured in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and "Kill Bill."

The dual carburetor 1600cc engine is not original to the car, and believed to have come from an early 1970s VW.

The Hagerty Valuation on this year and model of VW is $18,000 for a #4 Fair Condition car, to $34,500 for a #3 Good Condition car.  Excellent Condition #2 cars go for as high as $67,000, with #1 Concourse cars going for over $100,000.  This cool car is not only groovy, but would also make a great long-term investment!

This beautiful car is located an hour north of Grand Rapids, MI, and is available for inspection and a test drive.
