one of the most sought after Mopar's for collectors/investors. The
1970 is considered by many to be the pinnacle model year for the
Golden Era! The body was smoothed out with restyled fenders,
grille, and taillights. Non-functional side scallops were located
behind the doors and options such as Rallye wheels. The interior
was augmented with a new gauge cluster with circular gauges. All of
these changes resulted in the best-looking Road Runner ever. This
is an all-original unmolested numbers matching vehicle. Free from
rust and other, even trivial, or damage. This beauty has had a
regimen of excellent care. It has the correct Mopar High Impact EK2
Vitamin C orange. This is the original correct color. Showing 1919
miles.
For power the Road Runner came with a modified version of the
venerable 383 (E63). Engineers borrowed the cylinder heads and
hydraulic lifter camshaft from the 440 Magnum/Super Commando motor.
Other improvements consisted of a high-rise cast-iron intake
manifold with a four-barrel, and a high-flow, dual exhaust system.
"Road Runner engine" four-barrel 383-cu.in. big-block gives 330
horses! Plymouth Road Runner diff is an 8 3/4" 3.23:1 gear and a
TorqueFlite A727 three-speed automatic with column shift (D32).
Power steering, power windows (P31), and yes factory air
conditioning (H51)! The gauge package includes the Tic Toc Tach
Tachometer (N85) part of the round Rallye Gauge cluster Mopar
package 1968-1970. Road Runner's distinctive "meep meep" horn and
cartoon roadrunner on the center of the steering wheel.
Heavy-duty suspension was installed on all Road Runners and
included heavier ball joints, torsion bars, tubular hydraulic shock
absorbers, and a beefy anti-roll bar front and rear. Power front
disc system featuring 11.04-inch rotors and four-piston calipers,
and heavy-duty drum brakes measuring 11x3 in the rear.
The transvers stripe (V8X) on the rear edge of the trunk lid. The
side stripes, which are the speedy trails of dust gathering behind
the Warner Brothers roadrunner caricature. As a side note they are
reflective...very cool! Charcoal & Black interior is in excellent
condition.
A well-kept original--almost as intact as the day it left the St.
Louse plant in 1970--clearly has its own special allure. Included
is the original 1970 jacket (L), and authentic photocell print that
is numbered and on back has documentation.
